Report: Boston College transfer Claudell Harris sets visits with Mississippi State, Georgia, West Virginia

Claudell Harris Jr. has been making the rounds as one of the many transfers in the portal. Those visits now include three more stops to two more schools in the SEC and one in the Big 12.

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello shared an update from Harris’ agent about his client’s plans in a tweet on Friday. He revealed that Harris will be in Starkville this weekend to see Mississippi State. He will also have stops at Georgia and West Virginia on the docket.

“Boston College transfer Claudell Harris is visiting Mississippi State this weekend, followed by trips to Georgia and West Virginia, per his agent Noah Reisenfeld of Young Money APAA Sports,” Borzello wrote.

Harris is coming off of a recent visit to Texas A&M.

Harris came to Boston College for this past season after starting his career at Charleston Southern.

In his career, Harris has averaged 13.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 41.5% from the field and 34.7% from three. That includes his one season with the Golden Eagles this year where he went for 13.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 35 games, including 28 starts. While in Chestnut Hill, he shot 40.3% overall and 37% from three on 2.5 makes from deep per game. That made him top-three on the team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He wassecond in points behind only Quinten Post at 17 ppg..

Harris was an unranked member of the 2021 cycle as a native of Hahnville, Louisiana. Now, in the portal, he is the No. 231 overall transfer and the No. 25 CG per On3’s 2024 College Basketball Transfer Portal Top Players.

Harris is one of six players to leave Boston College by transfer this offseason. None of the other five have yet to commit to a new school either with Jaeden Zackery, Prince Aligbe, Mason Madsen, Armani Mighty, and Devin McGlockton all still available in the portal. In turn, the Eagles have picked up commitments from two transfers in Joshua Beadle (Clemson) and Chad Venning (St. Bonaventure).

As for the schools that Harris is considering out of this trio, Mississippi State already has two transfers while Georgia and West Virginia have one apiece. The Bulldogs’ pair in Starkville includes Kanye Clary, a guard from Penn State, while the ‘Dawgs in Athens have the one guard in De’Shayne Montgomery (Mount St. Mary’s). The Mountaineers’ lone addition is a major one in Tucker DeVries (Drake), the son of their new head coach in Darian DeVries.
