According to Chris Karpman of Sun Devil Source, former Nebraska quarterback Jeff Sims is currently on a visit to Arizona State. Sims entered the NCAA transfer portal following the 2023 season but has yet to find a home. Now, the Sun Devils are emerging as an option for the fifth-year player.

“Senior Nebraska QB transfer Jeff Sims is currently visiting ASU, I’ve learned,” Karpman said via X. “Great size, impressive athlete and arm talent but struggled with turnovers in a few games last season. Before that, he was a three-year starter at Georgia Tech. He has 31 career TD passes and 29 INTs.”

Sims is searching for his third school, beginning his career at Georgia Tech. He entered the 2023 season as Nebraska‘s starter but as Karpman mentioned, turnovers were an issue for him. Eventually, head coach Matt Rhule had to make a change.

In five games with the Huskers last season, two of which were starts, Sims threw for 282 yards, one touchdown, and six interceptions while completing 59.6% of his throws. Sims was a little better on the ground with 189 yards and a touchdown on 42 carries.

Arizona State would be adding an experienced player, even if the stats from last season are not great. Six different players threw at least five passes for the Sun Devils in 2023, needing some more stability at the position moving forward.

Former Arizona State QB Jaden Rashada visiting Georgia

Arizona State transfer quarterback Jaden Rashada is set to take a visit to Georgia at the end of the month, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Rashada will reportedly be on campus on April 30 and May 1.

Rashada is also considering visits to a pair of other SEC schools: Auburn and Mississippi State. He was at one point signed with Florida as a recruit, which ended infamously.

He appeared in two games in his 2023 season with the Sun Devils, throwing for 407 yards and three touchdowns while completing 57 percent of his passes. Rashada has been out for most of the spring due to thumb surgery for a non-football-related injury.

Rashada played high school football at Pittsburg (Calif.) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 73 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
