Georgia State transfer receiver Robert Lewis has committed to Auburn, he tells On3.

The former three-star recruit has developed into one of the top wideouts in the Sun Belt Conference. He spent this weekend on The Plains, getting to know the Auburn coaching staff. His conversations with wide receivers coach Marcus Davis made a significant impression. Lewis said he can envision himself playing in the Auburn offense.

“I feel like Auburn is the right fit for me because of the scheme that they run could fit with me,” the wide receiver told On3. “While talking about football with Coach Davis, we were really on the same page about a lot of things regarding my tape. We were both saying the same thing but in different verbiage. Also with the role I will be tasked with while being in the receiver room, I feel like I could help boost them to another level.”

Robert Lewis ready to prove himself in SEC

Lewis had plans to visit Cincinnati from Dec. 16 to 17, but he’s now locked in with the Tigers. The wideout ranked in the top 10 in the Sun Belt in receiving yards (877) this season, along with seven touchdowns and averaging 73.08 yards per game. He also received interest in the portal from Mississippi StateTexas TechSouth CarolinaPurdue and Louisville.

With a big-play ability, he’s ready to prove himself in the SEC.

“It was an important part of my decision to play in the SEC,” Lewis said. “A lot of great talent here and is still the best league to play in college football. Not many are presented with this opportunity, and I’m looking to make the most of it playing here. Great opportunity to prove to myself and everybody who has eyes on me, that I can play at the next level.”
