EJ Smith, son of Dallas Cowboys legendary running back Emmitt Smith, might be headed back to the state where his father played the majority of his NFL career and that he calls home. On Tuesday, Smith revealed that he has received an offer to play for the Texas A&M Aggies in 2024.

The son of the former Cowboys star and NFL’s all-time leader in rushing yards has spent four seasons with the Stanford Cardinal. In those four years, Smith has carried the ball 109 times for 557 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry, and has five rushing touchdowns. Smith also proved that he could be serviceable out of the backfield with 59 catches for 386 yards and 1 receiving touchdown. He has been inside the NCAA transfer portal since the conclusion of Stanford’s season in late November.

Smith played high school football at Jesuit High in Dallas, TX, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 130 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
