UCF linebacker Rian Davis officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Wednesday, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. Coming out of high school, he originally signed with the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2019 cycle. Last year he racked up 14 tackles for the Knights.

In 2022 with Georgia, he finished with 15 tackles and five quarterback pressures, notching a career-best four tackles and a quarterback hurry vs. Auburn.

A former four-star prospect in the 2019, class, Davis was also rated as one of the Top 100 overall prospects in the country coming out of Wevika High School (Apopka, Florida), according to the On3 Industry Rankings. As one of the most decorated prospects in the country, he was invited to the 2019 Under Armour All-American Bowl. He was coached by Rich Bedesem, who starred at linebacker for the Virginia Cavaliers. Davis played four games his senior season, before suffering a torn ACL.

When he originally signed with Georgia, he chose them over offers from Texas and Louisville.

His sophomore and junior seasons, he played at Clear Lake High School (Houston, Texas), racking up 94 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hurries, six pass deflections, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries for touchdowns as a junior.

UCF finished 6-7 overall this year, falling 30-17 in their bowl game. They had a five-game losing streak in the middle of the season, but rebounded to win three of their last five. Their best win of the season came when they delivered a 45-3 thrashing of the 15th-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys. Javon Baker was dominant in that one, hauling in four catches for 112 receiving yards. Baker was one of the more explosive wideouts in the country, hauling in 1,139 total yards.

UCF running back R.J. Harvey ran for 1,416 yards and 16 touchdowns. That yardage total was good enough for fourth in school history for a single-season. Only five players in the nation scored more regular season rushing touchdowns than him.

Before transferring to the Knights to play running back, Harvey was listed as a third-string quarterback for the Virginia Cavaliers. An explosive quarterback in his high school days for Edgewater, the UCF standout threw for 1,787 yards and ran for 1,376 yards as a senior. Harvey also helped guide Edgewater to a state semifinal appearance in 2018, after the previous group went 0-10 as sophomores.
