Projecting the College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings ahead of Week 9
It’s almost the time of the year where we get to debate College Football Playoff rankings after every Tuesday. To prepare, CBS Sports projected what the College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings would look like ahead of Week 9.
The current rankings are fascinating — featuring a duo of SEC teams and Big Ten teams making up the College Football Playoff. Georgia and Alabama represent the SEC in the top four, while Michigan and Ohio State join them. However, the Wolverines and Buckeyes still have to play — while the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide will likely meet in the SEC Championship.
Moreover, CBS Sports drops the Cincinnati Bearcats out of their College Football Playoff spots. Luke Fickell’s squad may be the No. 2 team in the nation at the moment, but it’s evident CBS Sports doesn’t see them as a Playoff team.
As for the ACC, Wake Forest still can’t crack the top ten despite being undefeated. The conference is so weak that it’s possible the Demon Deacons could go undefeated, and go unnoticed.
Moreover, Kenny Pickett is leading the Pittsburgh Panthers to an impressive season. Still, CBS Sports ranks them down at No. 23 in their projections for the College Football Playoff Top 25. Possessing a win over Tennessee, the Panthers will have to go on a run over the next month or so to convince the committee.
Nevertheless, the CBS Sports projections for the College Football Playoff Top 25 is solid. Check out the full rankings below.
