Did anyone hear Fitz' post game comments?

Yes, WGN broadcast them. The one takeaway that I recall was the statement that the team didn't give up and he credited them for putting themselves in position to win. There were other positives as well including lauding Larkin for his stellar play.

It starts at the top. We have to play 60 minutes. Blah blah blah. Do you need to? Do you really believe anything revealing would be said?
I couldn't believe Akron's last play. If Thorson throws the ball with a bit more touch, Big Ben would have had a chance. Only was a 30 yard toss but it was thrown short enough that we couldn't get under it.

Not sure why McCall keeps calling plays with Thoson running to his right. Gosh awful bootlegging to the right. Ben's fluke TD was the only positive on Thorson's bootleg rights. The 2 pt play called for Thorson to bootleg right as well. I realize that McCall wanted to move the pocket or move thorson out of the pocket since he was getting devoured by the steel curtain, but Thorson is awful moving right.

On the last play it seemed like Thorson waited way too long. We were only on the 30, he didn’t have to wait 5 seconds for guys to get to the end zone before even throwing it. Seemed like it just gave extra time for 8 Akron guys to get right to where the ball would be thrown.

Consider for a moment this game without that last TD of the half and / or all the personal fouls. That reflects how bad this team really is. Thing is, individual talent is there by large, seemingly. So...

They kept saying Hail Mary but we actually could have run routes across the field because it was wide open, then have a hitch and go if someone was to be tackled. Just tossing it in the endzone is fine as well with equal chances for Ben, but it was a poor throw, once again Thorson going to his right.

I couldn't believe we actually had a chance. It would have went down as the dumbest play by Akron to give us the ball. And a helluva comeback. Damn it I was read for it!

Consider for a moment Michigan. I flushed this game I'm looking forward to Michigan as well.

Let’s say they pulled out a last minute miracle. Would you feel good about this team? Pummeled by Duke, damn near beat by Akron (in this hypo). This doesn’t sound like a world beater. Or Michigan beater, ND beater, maybe not Illi beater.

I thought we started going soft towards the end of the second quarter before they scored. Nothing after that point, save that statistically unlikely TD to close the half, could possibly give you a happy feeling. There were no positive takeaways.

PF talking about the positives tonight makes me angry. They embraced the suck tonight. And PF should have simply owned it. Should have been we sucked. We all sucked. We embraced, we coddled, we cuddled, we were the suck tonight. Some more than others. But every part of this program needs to take a hard look within. And we need to make some changes. And we will. Now.

Man, something anywhere near that admission would have me embracing the suck and looking forward to hunter. Right now, I feel for him.

Look on the bright side. We did score in the second half. We hadn’t done that this season. So that’s a positive.

I'm not so pessimistic about future games, but rather discouraged by the last two (maybe 3). Fitz has proven we can pull out a season. But that's not the point. There are some persistent problems that aren't being addressed, that could and should be. It is finally time.

You want to talk about bad coaching, Bowden's management of the last 4 minutes of the game was about as bad as I've seen in any football game. The fact that NU actually had a chance to win the game on the last play from Akron's 30 yard like is crazy.

In fairness, he did manage to manage pretty well between the end of the first half and then.

I feel much the same way. We will turn this around but it will again mask the persistent, obvious, fixable problems.

In watching this video, I noticed that Fitz didn’t mention the offensive line at all. Perhaps he thought they played well?

You think he managed his way to three defensive TDs? If so, I really want to get their playbook because I'd like to steal those defensive calls. Sometimes in a game the ball just bounces your way more times than not.

You think that the result of one game is sufficient to determine who the better coach is? Bowden's handling of the last four minutes of the game was the worst case of game management I've seen in 40 years of watching football. Absolutely horrible.

The optimist/pessimist in-fighting will be evident by the wildly varying reactions posters have to the fact this coaching staff has two weeks to prepare for Michigan. :)
