Zack Seyko is a guy who runs a podcast out of his parents basement who regurgitates penn state news. He does no real reporting on his own.

Actually he predicted PSU to win by 2 or 3 scores. His guest predicted a 4th quarter come from behind win for PSU.

Yeah, I don't know who that is but if he did say that he's getting the reaction he wants
Some "analyst" on ESPN tonight picked Penn State as "this year's Indiana"--it's all just random guessing
We might win 17-6, we could win 54-13 or maybe we lose 2-0. Time will tell but thank God we have football again

Maybe it's the OP of this thread that is looking for clicks? I watched the interview and Seyko never said that.

I watch his show when it pops up on my feed. The worst is when he has the Indiana guy Jacob Goins on. In two short years, he acts like IU has Notre Dame’s history. Nobody should be that happy.

Did anybody see anyone online who picked the UMass went over Rutgres? I’m sure no one did. That’s why none of these prediction people are worth anything.
Seems like everybody’s picking Marshall to cover tomorrow. Heard one guy on a Baltimore radio station this morning basically say that Penn State offense wouldn’t be very good considering Iowa State offense wasn’t very good last year and that Penn State lost their best two offensive players in Singleton and Allen.
Well, all of that might be true, I think everyone that saw last year’s team knows that the offense under achieved for most of the year anyhow.

Most PSU fans don’t even know much about a lot of the players on the team let alone a talk show host in Baltimore.

These people live for "clicks", which is pretty pathetic to begin with.

Don't give them any.
If people don't "click" or tune in, they don't have a job. "Locked on," BWI" Lions 247" Tengwall etc. are all dependent on providing coverage to PSU fans "hungry" for comment. They exist in a sort of symbiotic relationship. The off season is filled with rampant speculation and attempts to satiate a fanbase hungry for any morsel of information. If you read of listen in as a casual form of entertainment, these products can be marginally informative and enjoyable. Tengwall is the only one I've found that can break down schemes and give some insight into the actual mechanics of execution and philosophy behind the game.
Otherwise, they talk a lot and reveal little. The exception is recruiting where they develop relationships with prospects and or their reps and have genuine insight into the decision making process.
Another problem can be fans that only look at headlines and assume that is the content. I don't find Seyko very knowledgeable, but he is (as most) quite a PSU "homer." I listened to the podcast and it was his guest (who apparently covers the Sun Belt) who was hyping the Herd. Seyko was a visibly uncomfortable with the guest predicting a hard-fought contest. Winning draws interest, losing diminishes interest. Where would you fall if your livelihood depended on PSU football?

I've seen a handful of pundits say "PSU better watch out."

I actually don't think it's that out of left field to think we could struggle against Marshall. We're not talking an FCS team. And their QB is conference preseason player of the year, so he's going to be decent.

New coaching staff, entirely new roster, tons of transfers, first game, etc. Remember App St or Bowling Green? And I'd argue those PSU rosters were much stronger than what we think we have this year.

I don't think we get upset, but I think our fans get upset by the third quarter. I think we pull away in the fourth but get a strong effort from Marshall. Something like 31-13 with a late score to make it look worse than it actually was.

I don't think we can take away too much from this game, regardless of loss/close game/blowout. I'm more interested to see how this team looks heading into Wisky in a few weeks.

I expect it to be a competitive game, which will be better than the non-con games last season that turned that team into a bunch of zombies and contributed to how poorly prepared that team was to begin the season.

Many good points, but the offense isn't new. Position coaches, coordinator, 4th year QB in the system. O should be a well oiled machine. Now, lots of "new" on the defense. That could be a work in progress.

Marshalls D-fence was terrible last year and I do not think they will be much different this year. My hope is that Penn State dominates the line of scrimmage and eats up the clock to keep our D-fence as fresh as possible because their QB is pretty damn good. If our offense can sustain drives and them with points, I believe our D-fence will hold Marshall to under 20 points. I want to see our O-line have a 2-3 yard push because our RBs are good enough to find those holes and pop them for 5+. I do not think we cover the spread, but, the score will not show how dominate we were on both sides of the ball. Marshall comes out hot and they make it interesting for the first half but our D-fence will make adjustments at half time and we come out with a 38-17 victory. Marshall gets a late score to cover the spread.

I think we win in a low 40s to mid teens type game, but the Rutgers loss to UMass last night is a reminder that these mobile running QBs can cause problems and make the game closer then it should be. Hopefully Rojas is the spy tomorrow.

They need to keep him contained. I am more worried about our guys being disciplined and tackling is usually shaky to start the season. If we can keep Marshalls offense off of the field with our offense sustaining drives and ending them with points, That will keep our D-fence fresh.

If you put enough teams on upset alert often, eventually you become a prophet.
It's kind of interesting, but games are still determined on the field. 50% of all teams competing this weekend will be 0-1. I can't imagine being more nervous (as a coach) than playing games where you have everything to lose and nothing to gain.
