It doesn’t matter at this point. The playoff schedule is set. Line up the starting pitching.
The first five batters in the Yankees lineup going one for nineteen had a lot to do with them losing that game too.

This team can't expect to win in the post season on pitching alone.

I just don't see how a team that strikes out so much can succeed when you're facing every teams top 3 pitchers.

The other BIG issue is defense is shoddy.
Jones, Lombard, and Volpe/Chisholm are below averages.
Wow. No wonder the Yankees have had trouble catching the Rays in the division.

When comparing the relative success of the Yankees & Rays, I’m not sure starting pitching is the way to differentiate. Sure these two guys have had great years, but Yanks starters are pretty damn good too. It’s the bats where the differentiation has occurred.
Let's get this over quickly. Two losses and bye-bye until next spring.

Just a heads up, but I think it's been pretty clear for a while now that we're not gonna see the Aaron Judge we've long counted on for the rest of 2026. And with the 2027 season probably starting with a lockout,there's no telling when we will.
And for those of us who are Giants/Rutgers fans football doesn't look to be very promising.

If TB plays their starters today, which I doubt, this should be Cole's last chance to lay claim to being SP3.

One other thing...Over the years, Cashman seems to have drastically overestimated his minor league talent and their trade value.

Interesting slide at home plate tonight by Lombard....don't think I've ever seen that one before.
He followed later with a monster two-run homer to win the game.
Wasn't the most intense of games though. And the win went to some guy just called up from AAA who really hasn't looked at all that impressive in the three times they've called him up. He did finish the eighth and ninth though.
Three out off four from the Rays is always good.

I look forward to commenting in that thread on how much money the Mets spend in an effort to get out of the basement in 2027.
I do as well. Uncle Stevie will spend and he'll have plenty with that one stop shopping Casino/hotel/ and all that will come with it. Metropolitan Park, is targeted to open by June 2030. Yankees Bally Bronx on the old Trump owned golf course is set to open later that same year. Sounds like the Mets will have a way better setup. I'm betting big money spenders would rather travel to Long Island than THE BRONX.

Nah. I just feel obliged to point out the hypocrisy of some Mets fans. Those who cried and cried in previous years when the Yankees would spend big money to attract talent to the Bronx. Once Cohen brought his check book to Queens and talked about spending as much as it takes to get the Mets to the top such spending was okay.Oh, you care more than you'll ever admit since you bring it up all the time.
Bringing that up always leaves my Mets fan friends speechless. I love it.
And I can't tell you how rich it is to see them spend all of that money and still wind up this season on the bottom.

Good win for the Padres. Ex Yank Michael King goes 7 one hit innings. Emotional capper was when Joe Musgrove, who's missed just about two complete seasons with TJ surgery, pitched the ninth .
Just like the Yanks they didn't need to use any high leverage relievers .
