But I’ve found myself envious of the team culture and player development Iowa has. They do a lot with little, eval really well, they are clutch and they don’t beat themselves. They will never be league champs but they seem to max out their potential with great coaching. I can’t bring myself to root for them but I enjoy watching them play. I’m a defense/special teams/ run the ball guy.

Not a chance. OU/ Nebraska were usually playing for conference and National titles. Lots of close games , great players, National attention and hall of fame coaches.

Iowa is who they are, the games don’t mean much and so far it’s been pretty one sided. One very good coach against the fellas we hired to coach our team. Nebraska fans are annoyed with Iowa and disappointed we’ve sunk this low.

I don’t care for Ferentz, Iowa Program, or their fans but agree that they do the basic fundamentals very well. They make you earn it. Very much like when we used to play K-State under Bill Snyder.

Personal classless fan experience with Iowa fan a few years ago. I usually take my longtime disabled buddy to game/ he lost part of leg, piss bag etc. uses cane. Can’t stand long.

Few years ago- Iowa fan about 30 years younger than me standing right in front of my buddy. Which is ok. But standing when zero people standing in our section.

But the whole game? Even when action was minimal etc. I asked him very nice a couple of times- then showed him my buddy’s cane etc
He got obstinate wouldn’t budge. My buddy couldn’t see anything / guy was just being. Jerk on purpose. Worst hill Billy classless fans ever

So when he left at halftime I got in behind him- he didn’t see me. Right when we got to bottom of ramp I cut in front of him and got him to stop. I told him to follow me out the south gate and we would take care of our issue on some soft ground because I was going to knock him out - I didn’t want him to get hurt bad. He said ok- he was following me/ when I got to the gate he had disappeared. Never saw him again, he must have called his buddy because when I got back to my seats his buddy was gone . All talk assez cowards for sure.

There are a lot of folks in their feelings about the team. Before Rhule was hired, the team won seven games in two years, and those wins were a struggle about half the time. That was an utterly junked up roster. Rhule has brought in some better players and after the first year has won more games. But not enough for a lot of fans. The league is larger and more competitive and getting a roster that will compete in the top third isn’t something that happens overnight unless you are Curt Cignetti. I like the way the offense is developing. I think the Chambliss kid is one of the better linebackers that NU has had over the last several years. The Dline is still a question. The Dbacks will do enough. It really comes down to whether the defensive line can do enough to mitigate running offenses in the Big Ten. They did not last year and that breakdown ultimately lead to a complete defensive breakdown as the season went on.

Iowa does have less history and money than Nebraska. I can’t speak to the facilities. However, Iowa doesn’t have “worse” players than Nebraska…otherwise Iowa wouldn’t be consistently beating Nebraska. Development is certainly important, but can only take you so far. It’s still about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.
