I am with you as both dinosaur head coaches just turtled up with the conservative juice. Kirk's players bailed him out big time. My gawd wasnt Kirk watching Brown making throws, making plays, not gettin sacked, and the receivers catching most everything and the OLine pass protecting.

4th and 6 is about the same percentage as a 51 yard FG from a rookie kicker in the big effing house.

And old man Whittingham either ordered his coordinators to turtle up or he let them do it. After the missed FG the hawks were desperate to stop the run so Mich could have passed it on most every down. But no they froze up and I saw Underwood on the sideline a couple times in the 2nd half coming off the field pleading with the coaches to do some other plays etc.

But this was the football god's Karma for the W Mich game. Hawks win and I thought our defense was a bit iffy in the first half especially. 4-0 baby

Michigan stupidity, great hands by his TE and a serious case of luck saved KFs bacon on this one. And its not very arguable.

If not for the late shove OOB by the UM DB that drew the PF flag & a free 15 yards as well as the new set of downs AND DJV's self-directed deflection & catch to set up the ball at that spot it was for the winning TD throw PLUS the play stoppage due to the UM injury ... Iowa is nowhere close to getting that chance to win it, let alone actually doing it.


GREAT WIN, but let's not put KF on a pedestal he absolutely does not deserve to be on after it. Going for that FG when he did, even after the procedural penalty, was turtling and begging to lose.

Yeah, the hawk players won this game despite KF's FG kick decision and a very vanilla offensive play calling scheme by Lester for 40 minutes

It’s sort of like “The Catch.” Absolutely terrible coaching led to one of the biggest plays in school history. There is no way the odds of stopping Michigan cold, then driving back for another field goal were better than just picking up the fourth down then scoring a TD. Not a moronic decision, but not a smart one.

Well, it sort of is when we haven’t done that in years! Either way, I think it’s just great that we beat Michigan. Think of how pissed off we all would be if we had lost, especially after that decision not got for it on the 4th down. Omg, I know I’d be foaming at the mouth.

Wasn’t the team we beat four game ago ranked #14? No, a happy victory, but not a particularly “big” win, let alone a historic one.

What do you think the Michigan sports press, fans, etc are now thinking about their coach going for it on 4th down in short FG range and getting stoned. their fans are probably talking about Whit like we talk about Kirk's decisions.

These coaches just dont take the easy points. I cant remember that score at the time but I will rewatch the game later and think about all these decisions at the time and the risk reward angles.

Given what happened in the last two minutes of this game, do you think our staff allows Brown to air it out a bit more and vertically? I mean the proof is in the pudding. Sure Ostrenga had that lucky bounce, but overall I think Brown threw some pretty damn good balls under pressure. Coach should consider doing it more. I hate to say it but it's almost like we won despite Kirk, and I fully respect what he has meant to the program during his tenure. But blindly kissing his backside no matter what is pure madness.

It took multiple breaks including a dumb Michigan penalty to secure the win. But with way game was and how tough yards were to come by kicking it did not make sense. To play devils advocate there have been times where this conservative mind set has cost us games, cough cough 09’ at OSU. Just glad that wasn’t the case today.

I think you're wrong. Michigan has a helluva defense, and that QB--when he's throwing like he was today--makes a pretty powerful offense. Very few people walk out of the Big House with a win as a visiting team. And how about a 91-yard drive capped off by a 16-yard TD pass on the last play of the game, perfectly executed, all in under 2 minutes. This is at least a top 20 all-time win, if not a top 10.

Come on, this may Not even be one of the top 10 wins against a college in Michigan.

The stupid part was bot the decision to kick on 4th and 6. The stupid part was the brain dead false start when it was 4th and 1! No excuse for that or the false starts by two linemen in a later series. Get your head on straight if you want to play Big Ten football.

Why was the FG attempt a bad decision. Make the FG, get a stop and then all you need is a FG to tie. I agreed with the call. Our defense came through and Kirk was masterful calling two timeouts before the 2 minute TO.
