I do not think we are an embarrassment to college football. If we were ever a good team and we suddenly started playing like this it would be embarrassing. What we are seeing on the field this year is standard procedure for Gamecock teams. We have been doing this forever.

The way the ball bounces. I cannot explain how the ball always bounces the wrong way for us all the time. Whether it is bouncing off a goal post, bounces off a players back while fielding punts or bounces off our receiver into the DB’s hands. We just have bad luck with balls.

Coaching hires and contracts. I cannot explain how our AD’s hires loser coaches and give them record contracts for one good season. We did it with Phat Brad, we hired Chump after UF fired him and we already knew he was not a Head Coach (a good DC) and we hired Beamer because his Dad was a good coach (I guess hoping that genetics would win for us?). Then we gave these failures huge contracts that make it impossible to fire them. Why? And we did it in MBB as well.

Superstar players. I cannot explain how our multi-millionaire star players always fail to work out? I see other teams who have real star players that are working for far less than we are paying ours. Our coaches have to be some of the worst talent evaluators in all of college football. Again, a player has one good season and over-pay for years after.

Loyal fans. I cannot explain it, but there is still a thing called a “Shane Train”. Half of our fans still love the guy because he is “nice” and “really wants to be here”. No other program that I am aware of holds on to and rewards mediocre performing coaches (and AD because he won some baseball games 20 years ago) like we do. Why? It is not embarrassing because we have been doing this crap for so long!

Administration. We have always had meddling BOT’s and administrations going back to when I was a student in the 1980’s. Ever heard of Holderman? This is systemic and apparently never fixable. So if we replace Beamer this will be done by the same types of people who hired Phat Brad, Chump and Beamer.

Refs. SEC refs have been screwing us since we joined this conference. The ACC was screwing us as well back then, so we left them to eventually get the same result in the SEC. Are we not paying them off? Not paying enough? Do we not have enough of our former players and alumni working as SEC refs to help us out. I do not know why we get so many bad calls and non-calls? I have seen a SEC ref actually tackle our QB once to cost us a game.

Doing the same thing again and again, I expect that if we do find the money fire Beamer we will end up a team that is the same or worse. It’s systemic here!

It took Holtz a long time to fix Phat Brad, but he did, then in his last few years he should have just retired when it was going off the rails. He gave it to SOS, it took him a few years to finally make us good for a few years, then he should have retired but stuck around and it went off the rails. Nobody can sustain winning here for more than a few years because we have more issues than Time Magazine.

Brad Scott is also the coach who recruited the late Phil Petty, who played an integral role in turning the program around. That was just a hire that did not work out. However hiring Muschamp was just plain stupid, no other way of looking at that, he was a loser at Florida, one could argue that loss to us was one of the ingredients that got him fired. Our previous AD failed to realize if Muschamp could not win at Florida in our same division, then he was almost certainly not going to win here either. Then the Muschamp hire was followed up with a person with no experience as a HC or even coordinator, so there was virtually no job history to gauge his chances for success here, in short, hiring Beamer was a massive gamble. The common thread was the previous AD. Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier proved you could win here.

Not a Gamecock fan, but the season is not over. Carolina can beat Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. Toss up games against Tennessee and Clemson and one game against a smaller school. It does not sound possible right now but 7-5 is very possible. 8-4 may be a stretch.

Individual talent variance still disables us. Take the opening long run by Fuller. HE was untouched. I love this kid. He is a beast and may be the current toughest kid on the team and exhibits heart and desire. But the fact of the matter is there are lots of college running backs that would have been fast enough to score on that play. He just didn't have that next gear to outrun and post 6 on the board. And we all know our propensity to blow things up when we have positive Mo. Would it have made a difference in the long term of the game? probably not. Split seconds make the difference. If their receivers had not been so glaringly open, possibly we could have gotten to the QB if he had to hold it a mili-second longer. Sack Vs bomb touchdown.

What I hate is we make the game seem like a home coming game. their fans were partying early and all night.

The host wasn't saying it as an attack. He was just mentioning teams and mentioned us as one near the bottom of the conference and he moved on to another subject. I think that's how most see us.

We are spending more than UGA. We are spending more than Clemson. There is no reason we shouldn't be able to win with the right coaching staff building the right culture. I just hasn't been done with any regularity.
