I'm one of the more negative dudes on this board. I predicted a Nebraska loss but they won. That is bad așș on several levels.

It was a physical game. Both sides lost some Dudes. Not the greatest victory but definitely a step in the right direction. First win in East Lansing since 2012. First 4-0 start since 2016. Lots of positives.

1) insulting someone and tossing condescending comments demonstrates a lack of intelligence.
2) yes, MSU lost their best player and had to adjust and Nebraska had to adjust as well.
3) Nebraska lost RB1 and our offense adapted
4) MSU isn't a MAC school and winning on the road in the Big 10 is tough - Nebraska prevailed.
5) Nebraska could have easily folded in the 3rd quarter - they didn't.
Like I said, I'm negative on Rhule and the AD but this team overcame a hurdle whereby it would have stumbled and lost that game in the past 10 years.
They were far from flawless but even Fitz knew Nebraska had control. Flaws gives the team to work on those aspects and get better.
Montana State's "Taco" Dowler didn't play due to injury yesterday. Just thought I'd throw that in for kicks.

Nebraska played a 5th string walk on RB recently converted from linebacker and he had 2 TDs. Played backups at various times on defense at just about every position on defense. I saw multiple guys 3rd on the depth chart play.
Gottula is flipping over to LT at times to give Pritchett a rest. At the same time I think they’re doing some load management with Gottula given his injury history. With the 5 for 5 rule, Gottula can come back next year I believe. Babalade I think is done.
It is a for a team that was 4-10 on the road in the big 10. We have won 25% of our conference road games over the last 10 years. Winning the first road game of the season with a lot of new coaches and a new qb is a big deal. Winning in impressive fashion will get fans reengaged in the season and the Maryland game will have a lot more juice to it. Throw in the fact that Indiana looks beatable and it gets people really fired up. We had guys make "talent" plays. Strip sacks, forcing INTs, great athletic catches...three forced turnovers, six sacks. If I remember right, Michigan state only had one "real" drive the 4th quarter. We ran the ball and controlled the clock for the entirety of the fourth.(winning football).

Thrilled we won, the boys fought hard and didn't let the momentum swings completely derail the game.
We are a better team than I thought, and I'll always enjoy being wrong on that front.
Getting stuffed on 4th and 1 still doesn't sit well with me, but you cant win every play.
Brutal stretch coming up, if Rhule finally gets his signature win I will praise him as a success.

This isn't true. The entire 4th quarter they were loading up the box because we were up 11 and then 18 and it was obvious we were running clock and burning their timeouts. Even so we converted on multiple 3rd and longs. Would it be nice to be able to run the ball against a big 10 defense when they know we are running? Sure. But that isn't how football works. We had two long drives in the 4th and didn't give them a chance even with a predictable offense.
Tree has the same Sr. designation as Gottula. Pritchett is listed as 5th. Gunnar’s work in fall camp gives three tackles that can start in league play and dividing the reps by 3 might keep all of them healthy for the season.
Nebraska played a C+ or B- minus game on the road against a Big 10 opponent and won by 18....that would not have happened in the past 10 years.
The name of the game is winning...this isn't the 90s or early 2000s where guys were in a system for five years and outcomes were relatively predictable based on speed, athletic ability, and stars. The stars are spread out over the sport, they aren't sitting four deep at Alabama or OSU. Games are going to come down to luck...(defensive holding on a blocked kick), turnovers, making field goals. Much more of an NFL feel now because there just aren't dominate teams, and if there are they are a series of injuries from being average due to lack of depth. I don't think our head coach knows "how to win" but it is more possible now than ever, as evidenced by Indiana last year.
If you best player averages roughly 5 ypt that explains the record and multiple double digit losses. Nebraska second best player on other hand was averaging near 10 YPT and did impact our margin of victory.
