Grunk turned the ball over 3 times and lost
You’re missing the point. It’s a gut shot that all the studden, 4 games into the season JF has a QB who had 400+ yards. There were plenty of games PSU could have won with just 300y from the QB. JF had TWO QBs go over 400y in his time with PSU, TWO bro.

By 2 points. And he was light years better than Becht who just threw the ball into the ground ten feet in front of a wide open TE. What an insane windmill to tilt at.

You understand that not only do you not have to die on every hill, but that it’s foolish to do so, right?

What does this have to do with anything?
A QB can throw for 650 but if they turn the ball over and lose it doesn't matter

To be fair that pass was by the WR.

And they decided to move on
If Grunk was here (which means Franklin would be here) you'd all be complaining about his decision making too
It doesn't mean Franklin would still be here. Campbell could have kept Grunk. In fact Grunk said he wanted to stay but Campbell opted for Becht instead.

Amazing how simple football can be when you just keep doing what’s working until the other team proves they can stop you. NW is putting on a clinic.

Again, a loss is a loss
What difference is does it make if you lose by 1 or 60. The result is 0-1
I'm not even on a hill here. Grunk was never staying--he was always following James--that's loyalty in 2026
Rocco was a stop gap--Manske is the guy MC wanted--we'll see how he does over the next couple years
Grunk is highly overrated here. They just lost to Pitt primarily because of the turnovers and a missed FG

It's comical to me to see the various meltdowns across the internet world. But that'll happen when there are inflated expectations. We didn't know a damn thing about what was coming from Ames and how it would gel with the talent that stuck around as well as the new philosophies. We've seen through 5 games that the big uglies up front are not very good. The QB has a lot of issues with getting the ball over the line of scrimmage. And the coach is more conservative with his decisions than Paterno ever dreamed of being. Punting from the +43 down by 17 mid 3rd quarter when you're not stopping anybody and then not even attempting an onside kick down 18 with 7:00 left is now stacked on top of the way the game was called last week in spots and it tells me that Campbell might need to do some soul searching. But for people to call for firings already is a product of the brain-dead, high-expectations, instant gratification society that sports has become.

Under no circumstances was Grunk not following James. Grunk simply said that as a PR move--he was gone from day 1--you don't have to believe me but that's reality.
Honestly, I don't know people here have this obsession with believe what guys say to the media when the insiders all say otherwise.

His team played football down to the final play. How about this gritty PSU squad?
Watched the last 8 minutes on the laptop. Hard to blame Franklin for the end of the game. Can't comment on what happened earlier. Great throw and catch by Grunk to Reynolds. Put a very reliable kicker in the position he wanted it and he barely missed it left. I take no joy in someone else's misery.

Don't let that ending detract from the fact that the offensive and defensive coordinators at PSU have been abysmal the last 2 weeks. The PSU team is slow, slow, slow. Absolutely nothing learned from last week. Predictable offense, gashable defense.

I'm a little more concerned about the regression of Penn State than I am of a field goal that was a foot wide left.

Good thing that PSU is pricing out long-time, loyal fans. There doesn't need to be 107, 000 in the stadium to watch this nonsense.

We’re talking trash when we have one of the two or three worst teams in the Big Ten…that’s funny.
For a long time I've said that this fanbase is entitled and delusional. PSU has demonstrated in 2 conference games that they may have the worst coaching staff in the conference. Yet, they take shots at Franklin. Morons.

Except it was Eskildsen that tried the pass on the Philly Special. But whatever helps your narrative.

Criticize Rocco all you want. He’s the least of our problems. Can’t run, can’t block, bad defense.
He’s the biggest problem. If the defense isn’t concerned about your QB beating them it makes it all the more difficult to run the ball

Add to it he’s missing wide open WRs for literal walk in TDs.

He’s the worst since Matt Seneca

So much embarrassment. Pricing out the fans while the program spirals. What could we do to make this worse? Get rid of the parking lot behind McLanahan’s?

Oh wait, that already happened.

Introduce new flavor: “Sardine Supreme” at Berkey?

At this point, if the west stands just topple over, I wouldn’t be surprised.
