What happened to PSU Soccer?

[PSUFTG]

When Pat Kraft took over as AD, PSU was coming off of Back-to-Back Big Ten championships.

Then, since PK, they bottomed out - culminating in a 1 win conference season last year - Kraft firing the coach, bringing in a new coach (who had recently won a National Title) - and now PSU soccer is facing down an 0-fer for the season (with just 2 games left, looking for their first conference win).

And the Women's team?

Had won 20 Big Ten titles in 28 years of Big Ten competition.
Then PK came in, and haven't sniffed the top spot since - now a consistent also ran.

"I DID THIS!"

Who cares? It is irrelevant. They draw 150 parents and friends.

When the teams were good did you stop complaining about Sandy? Do you now want to her back?

Psu should hire an sec AD, eliminate soccer and 10 other sports and put the money into football.

^This. Add swimming, baseball, softball, fencing, cross country, women's hoops to the cut list. Give all the savings to football. Change the revenue sharing model to favor football only

Thank you for this thread, now I have 5 more people on the ignore list.

So raze/destroy the applicable stadiums/fields/track for more parking... to add more revenue as well right?

What then would you say is the purpose of collegiate sports?

Great

That will pay - maybe - a week's worth of the interest on the debt.

What's your next impactful move?

Or we can put a football …

Should not have been built in the first place. A $25M stadium for a team that draws 150 fans????

There are better teams than psu who play on the side of the road.

that doesnt answer the question. you can't undo what was built or revist why.....the question still stands What would you do with it now if you eliminate the sports. In softballs case, Im sure the Beards would want some sort of Money back

and probably would have choice words for you... like put your money where you mouth is for starters. they donated to their vison of what they thought PSU could be, you cant ask more for than that...

Penn State has received a pledge of $500,000 from William and Lee Beard as the lead gift for a new facility for the Nittany Lion softball team. In recognition of this gift, the field in the new softball facility will be known as Beard Field. Construction is expected to begin next spring, with a...

If PSU were to cancel various (all?) sports, what would happen to the fields and stadiums?

Or, in today’s world:

They paved paradise
And put up a DATA. CENTER.

Women's soccer just defeated #5 MSU on the road yesterday. They are doing fine. Conference expansion has made the B1G more competitive (e. g. UCLA has 2 relatively recent national championships).

Men's soccer, on the other hand, is having a bad season and needs to get back on track. Dow is a new coach and deserves a few years to try to right the ship.

Hopefully the Women's soccer team returns to prominence - and maybe it will.
Shortly after joining the Big Ten, PSU women's soccer won 15 Big Ten titles in a row, and 20 out of 23
Recently?

2021 - 6th
2022 - 6th
2023 - 4th
2024 - 10th
First year post west coast merger. All 4 field teams
2025 - 7th
2026 - 6th (Currently)

PSU's decline was certainly not solely attributed (not even close) to the addition of the west coast schools

But at least they now have a $20 Million+ Taj Mahal.

PSU Men? Since 2021

2021 - 1st
2022 - 5th
2023- 1st (tie)
2024 - 11th (last place)
First season with UCLA and Washington added. USC and Oregon do not field teams
2025 - 11th
2026 - 11th (Currently - last in the Big Ten)
1 Big Ten win, combined, over last 2 years

[LaJollaCreek]

The best players in that sport bypass college for the most part now FWIW, but feel free to keep up your feaux outrage routine....maybe go back to the dumb lame YouTube crying videos next.

So they're bad because they have nicer facilities? Or somehow because of Pat Kraft, who would seemingly have no part in any of this whatsoever?

No They are just bad (actually, probably more appropriate to say far less "good" than they used to be)

That much is obvious (even to you?)

Are you actually THAT stupid that you have trouble with that?

Why? That was the question.
Feel free to not care. That would probably put you in the overwhelming majority, FWIW.
