How about a kickback from the State College hotel establishment? They're going to take a major hit if people stop coming to the games and booking the $3,000 hotel rooms.
Yeah that too. The 2 day minimum stay was a big cash grab for the hotels. Time to pay back the cash cow

I would think State College businesses get a huge boost every PSU Home Game 9duh) so if they want the gravy train to continue they better step up and maybe as mentioned Pegula can shake a few of his Billions loose and throw it into the NIL pot - the reality is that aside from the doom and gloomers here it has never been easier to go from worst to first in College Football. I still would not want BGJ here but Krafty did screw up but not having his replacement almost in hand before he showed him the door and that's on him.

Another awful Krafty The Clown decision - go figure. I wonder if he's getting a kickback from the National Subcontractor that all the other Blue Bloods refuse to use to supplement his absurd 2024 sweetheart deal? Anybody question why Franklin was fighting with Krafty The Clown regarding his ineptitude and decision-making regarding the PSU Football Franchise???

Kraft has done a poor job, no doubt. However, denying BGJ the undeserved raise was a good move. No one can convince me that we should still have BGJ.

If you're saying the strategic error was doing this while the stadium project was underway, then the error was not firing Franklin before the start of last season because you seem to have forgotten that James started this spiral.
IF JF was here this year the team is unbeaten or has one loss. Not exactly as spiral

So Franklin gets to hold the university hostage forever?
Forever???? He had two bad weeks (losing to top 5 Oregon in double OT is not bad) the year after being one play from the the title game.... Geeminy. For the life of me I can't figure out any logical reason for the hate JF gets. I really can't.

I have always contended that we should have canned BGJ after that stunning run of the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Iowa 2021? Illinois 2021? Fond memories. 2022-2024 cemented the narrative of never being able to win a big game. Then 2025.
So if you said we should can him.... Do you think that we are currently better off as program? Are you more optimistic today than in the past? Serious question. Everyone that shouts "fire someone" needs to realize that you have to replace them with someone better. That was never gonna happen in this case.

Doesn't the evidence convince you? Seriously, what would it take. Lets say in three years we have a total of 7 big ten wins, and JF has a lesser program like VT in the playoffs. Will that be enough? And maybe not, I'm legit asking.

I don't get how they're big apologists for Campbell because he's been handicapped by Krafty The Clown's ineptitude, but they hate Franklin who had to deal with the same issues stemming from Kraft's ineptitude, but did a whole lot better with less than what Campbell's been given.

Because he did things that disrespected PSU. He regularly had his agent say he was being sought by other schools and did little to nothing to put out the rumor talk. It made the school look bad. To an alum, it was offensive.

Yep, and been much further along with rebuilding. Instead, the infection was allowed to fester into the pusbag it became last year. Good news is that the healing has begun.

Yeah, the healing has begun..... we're paying even more (for both coaching and roster) for a way less competitive team. LMAO. Welcome to "Excellence at the highest level" and "Championship Football" - would be hysterical if it weren't so pathetic and sad.

It amuses me watching your verbose gyrations. When you gonna pull out the "DIAMETRIC OPPOSITE" and get down with it? The world awaits.

Need $45 million in NIL. Have to be within $10 mill of OSU, Oregon to have a good chance at winning.
----Digging into those numbers, we find that a difference of $5 million to $10 million between two schools is not particularly significant. In those matchups, the higher-paid team is a modest 23-19 against the lower-paid teams. But when the gap exceeds $10 million, the results become more predictable. The higher-paid teams are 42-11 when the rosters are at least $11-15 million apart, including 15-5 with a gap of $20 million or more.--the Athletic based on this years outcomes.

Does the 4-21 record against top 10 teams mean anything?

Not anymore. Franklin is gone. Expectations are peaking at PSU. A "big win" now would be beating Purdue.
Don't you just love excellence at the highest level? The next two seasons have actual Big Ten opponents. Good times.

I have thought about this and just don't see a path where we are even a top half or even top 12 B10 Team over the next 3 years and probably longer.

-Our NIL is ranked around #25 at about $28 million thereabouts according to NYT.
-Just doing rough math for us to overhaul our roster through the portal, invest in the handful of guys we have to keep and spend for say a top 12 '28 class that is about $40 million to $50 million in NIL. Yes, you need that much to compete in modern cfb.
-We have shown we are essentially non competitive in the HS recruiting front with the #24 2027 HS class and now worse with the Wood decommit.
-I have not seen anything to tell me Campbell is as good a recruiter as BGJ. Yes I know getting the '27 class was tough with all that happened but whether it is money or Campbell not having relationships, the results are the results and why will this significantly change?
-Campbell has shown absolutely nothing with his coaching......1) Both coordinators are shaky at best; 2) Becht is a trainwreck and he has coached him for 4 years; 3) The O-Line is a joke; 4) The running game is a joke; 5) The D-Line, wait what D-Line? They are invisible; 6) We don't play with any physicality or toughness and that includes mental toughness; 7) I see no in-game adjustments to counter what the other team is doing; 8) Campbell seems way too conservative for the modern game of football.

Yes, yes, yes I understand we have no talent but there are serious concerns with the coaching now as well.

So let's summarize:

We need a huge infusion of NIL to overhaul the team but how the heck is that going to happen because we have a lousy AD who can't fundraise that well.

We have a head coach and staff that don't
look that good from recruiting to talent development to game strategy to game management.

The '26 class is non existent. The '27 class is average and leaking water. We don't have the money to get a really good '28 class.

We don't have the money to fill all the holes we need to. We have no talent sans Howard and Dixon and a couple other guys. Is there a league where we can play three on three ball?

So what possibly can interrupt this doom loop?

Nothing really but try to make due as best we can. I would say the biggest thing we can do is go all out and get the best QB possible in the portal. That is the most important position. Build around a great QB. Maybe a great QB can steal us a few wins. I know it is a bit of an unknown trying to do that in the portal but I see that as the biggest priority.

After that start filling in where we can. D line I would say is 2nd. Then probably linebacker. Then a RB. We have to improve on defense and need to be able to run the ball for more than 30 yds a game. Maybe...maybe we can get elite guys at those 4 positions and then see what if any money we have left over.

You have to fire Kraft if he can't really get the dollars flowing with NIL and do it in the next 9 months. A new AD can infuse life and energy into the program.

As for Campbell? I will be patient but early returns are not good. He should fire the O-Line coach. What about Mouser? Wouldn't mind him being gone either. He has to make huge inroads with recruiting in our natural areas of PA, NJ, VA, MD, DE.

Also Campbell was billed as coaching 3 star type guys up. Well, do this then because he hasn't. And get an identity for this program that is built on physical and mental toughness. Start walking the talk.

I think MC's attitude and personality will play well with HS coaches and especially parents. I actually think recruiting will improve once the staff gets established in the HS's. IMO the biggest holdback will be the lack of NIL That NIL thing has to improve over the next two years and not just marginally.

#23 in recruiting seems "okay" until you see 6 or 7 conference schools above PSU. Even should the money somehow appear......would you as an 18 year old prefer State College over LA or Austin? So much has changed since 1994,
I think the coaching search is making a great deal more sense now.

Even if what you say is true. 2027 is not good. How long would it take for the 2028 class (if dynamic) to have an impact? 2029? PSU is destined to live or die (for about 3 or 4 years at least) by the portal. This is the consequence of Kraft's actions.
They need immediate help and are bidding against the likes of Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, Georgia, Texas (to name but a few) who have the luxury of just looking for a few difference makers to supplement their already talented rosters.
On the other end of the spectrum (current roster), this is a labyrinth of agents who are cognizant of the value of their clients. Keeping a Cooper Cousins or Koby Howard will be challenging as well.
I'd be willing to bet that any talented player on the Maryland squad has their next destination planned.

From what I’ve read , Kirby has done an unusually great job at recruiting and keeping core talent . Dawgs have used portal relatively sparingly to fill in key needs . Not many have that luxury.
