How many were actual upsets though considering the matchups?By quick glance…I count 31 teams with losing records winning in the opening round. Thats more than what I would have thought.
You’re a genius…By quick glance…I count 31 teams with losing records winning in the opening round. Thats more than what I would have thought.
12 of them were CPS losses so that skews the data just a little bit.
Of those how many were 4-5 playing other 4-5 or 5-4 teams?By quick glance…I count 31 teams with losing records winning in the opening round. Thats more than what I would have thought.

No & the 2ns round will produce blowouts too. It is what it isVery interested to see if round of 32 has more competitive games than normal. In theory it should.
Von Stuben came out just a bit rusty after their bye week losing 63-3.Last night, home teams (teams with a bye) went 46-19. We'll see what happens today but it doesn't seem like the bye week effected too many teams.
Then just let everyone in so everyone can feel all warm and tingly about making the playoffs.Up until this year Glenbard North doesn't sniff a playoff bid. This year they're getting ready for a 2nd round matchup on their home field. I'm ok with this new setup. Giving teams a bye weeks gives them time to mend some injuries. More schools get to experience the playoffs. Either format will have a ton of blowouts so these statistics don't really do anything.
