Would you have put Minnesota higher or lower than Iowa before McKinney's injury?

Mich must have added a lot after getting creamed by Iowa twice last year, and 4 of Iowa starters are back along with some key players for this year.

I think we are better than Michigan. But Kylie Feuerbach could absolutely shut down Olivia Olson. That was a big plus for us last year.

Did Michigan lose by 50 to UCLA and lose a home game in the 2nd round too?

Michigan lost by 17 to Iowa in the regular season, and lost by 18 to Iowa in the BTT. In both games Michigan failed to score more than 45 points, averaging just over 10 points per quarter. Michigan would go on to lose their E8 game to Texas by 36 pts.
They also lost to UConn by 3, we lost by 26. Michigan beat Vandy, better than any of our wins. Michigan outside of the head to head vs Iowa was better at every level of interpretation. Thus, they are projected higher.

How well Amari Whiting fills that role is another intriguing question as the season is about to begin. Also, Jocelyn Faison - a player with a similar reputation.
Absolutely, we beat them with defense. Will we be able to do it without Hannah and Fuerbach? They were very versatile on defense. Livy Olson was the picture of frustration against us. On the other hand, Michigan will need to see if they can stop both Dani and the kick outs to our 3 balls. Fun match up>

Can you elaborate how Faison is similar to Whiting? Not sure I understand the comparison.

I think that's fair.
Do you think Michigan can beat Iowa?

The subject is defense. I read an article awhile back( or maybe it was an interview ) where Faison’s defensive skills were prominently mentioned. Faison is taller and reported to be athletic so it seems credible. We’ll see.

Crazy that head-to-head is valued lower than common opponents to you.

Regardless, this is two different teams and last years results are basically out the window.

Also Michigan lost to Vandy.

2 games vs 30 something games and 2 extra rounds of advancement in the big dance? Just trying to see things objectively. I'm sorry you can not.

So the 2 games in the dance count but the 2 games head-to-head do not?

Both teams came out of the season with essentially the same record however Iowa's opponents won 15 more games than Michigan's.

Michigan goes 7-6 against ranked teams with their highest win against the #13 team in the country. Iowa goes 8-3 against ranked teams with their highest win against the #6 team in the country (Michigan, twice)

Just trying to look at things objectively.

Agree, I really haven’t paid attention to Michigan’s roster additions. Both programs have players who were on their rosters last year who should improve with another year of experience. I do think Iowa has improved their roster over last year, How that translates we shall see. Just ready for the season to start.

Way too many variables to eval on how IA vs Mich pans out this year. Wouldn't bet one way or the other right now.

Our biggest threat to Mich was defense holding to mid-40s both games. Our 2 biggest players contributing to that have exited. How will our newest players offset any defensive shortcomings with offense?

Can not find any footage on these newest MI players this season just like our own team to eval it properly. These are the players (below) who are going to makes the difference this year for MI. Until more tape comes out on them and our newest players, it's a crap shot at this time. The early UConn matchups by both teams will give some inkling. However, UConn plays at MI (Nov 5) while we play at UConn (Nov 8) so exact opposites vs neutral court compares.

MI Players to Watch:
Dallas Loughridge (Australia - Former Pro - Steps in for Mila Holloway)
Courtney Ogden (Stanford)
Kendall Dudley (UCLA - Prior year - Coach says biggest surprise and hard to keep off the floor)
Mila Holloway (When she comes back after lower foot injury on Sep 3 - Out indefinitely)

My other biggest eval will be on JJs 4 out offense from her 1st year. Did she fix it back to a more true motion offense to keep the defense off-balance?

This whole discussion is kind of dumb. Last year's head to head and tournament results has almost nothing to do with who should be ranked higher to open this season.

You know that no matter how dumb an argument is, I will dig my heels in.

Hey. I'm just trying to see things objectively here. I just wish you all could see that your arguments are spurious and devoid of even an ounce of merit. Now, go forth and carry on with your completely faulty reasoning.
