Gone at 62. One of my all time favorites. Taken way too soon. Rest in peace cowboy.
Never heard his music, but 62 is way too young.
He famously sang this patriotic American AF song after 9/11.
he once asked Clint Eastwood how he keeps going. Clint was in his mid 80s as this was in 2017 or so. Clint told him to "not let the old man in". His meaning was to never get old and fight age just as JoePa did. This inspired Keith and he sent Eastwood a rough recording of a new song he wrote named "Don't Let the Old Man In". Clint was just finishing production on a new movie named "The Mole" about an old man trying to come to grips with the mistakes he made in his life. Clint wanted to use it in the closing credits. Keith said that would be great and to give him a couple of months to refine and rerecord it. Clint said, no, I want it just the way it was done; raw and simple.
Sadly, Keith never made it to old age but this song hits hard.
When I saw this version, I teared up. Raw
Had to send as a Colorado guy![]()
Respect. Thanks for sharing. My godfather's son saw him several times play in Afghanistan. He was stationed in a FOB with special forces and told me Toby never cared how many were around to listen he would always pick up his guitar and play. If there were not that many at the base Toby would still entertain and sing for them. Said he was a great person and really enjoyed just hanging and talking with the troops. Gone way too soon.
Respect. Thanks for sharing.
I’m sure. I have some stories about myself that would absolutely curl your hair.Yeah, but there is another narrative about him too -
