PHS and Richmond HSA are switching places
Patrick Henry and M'Ville to Class 3.
notice all the NOVA schools dropping down to Class 5.
notice all the Tidewater schools dropping down to Class 4.
new Chesterfield School West Ridge will be Class 5 along with Monacan.

Six schools in region 5B? Can't they at least balance that out with 5A?

A lot of those schools in 5D are going to want to stay in Class 6. Some of them had Class 5 enrollments last time and were allowed to play up.

Sherando always seems to find a way to avoid moving up to Class 5...

Sherando has been incorrectly moved to Class 5 in the past because the VHSL has mistakenly included students from Millbrook and James Wood in Sherando's numbers. I don't know if that's the case this time.

However, the whole thing could've easily been avoided if FCPS (or whoever makes these decisions) didn't have boneheads in charge. The county, facing overpopulation in schools, spent $70 million renovating James Wood only to make the overall capacity of that school smaller.

they had to do something - too many schools in the region.

Sort of was hoping Dinwiddie would appeal to drop to C3.

They are not that close to the bottom of C-4

Sooo, transfer portal to a new Region? To win? Man, let these players go where they want... (not saying you in particular-I respect your track record). But if the goal is to win, do what's best for you, right?

placement is not decided by one sport no matter how dominant but the whole program so the AD and Principal may disagree with appealing. Then there is the addtional travel.

Next Steps in the Realignment Timeline

• • September 8, 2026: Deadline to file further appeals of the committee’s recommended plan to the VHSL Executive Committee.
  • September 23, 2026: The Executive Committee will meet to vote on and finalize the official alignment plan.

Committee. A region or school could appeal the plan in writing to the Executive Committee.
No hearing shall be conducted by the Executive Committee in response to the appeal, and
the decision of the Executive Committee shall be final.

B and requests to play down into Class 1 Region B based on travel time/costs,
missed classroom time, and economic challenges. If approved, they would be

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia High School League’s Executive Committee met Wednesday to determine the final alignment plan for the 2027-31 rotation.

A reliable source told WFXR Sports the following has been decided:

• Grayson County’s appeal to stay in Class 1, Region C was approved, as they were slated to move up to Class 2 Region C
• Patrick Henry’s appeal to remain in Class 5 Region C was denied, so the Patriots will move up to Class 6 Region A
• James River will remain in Class 2 Region C Three Rivers District instead of the appeal to drop to Class 1 Region C Pioneer District
• Marion will stay in Class 2 Region D Hogoheegee District instead of the appeal to move down to Class 1 Region D Southwest District
• Nelson County will stay in Class 2 Region C instead of the appeal to move down to Class 1 Region B
