It comes on late - 9 Central, which is past my bedtime* - but it should be a good game.

I hope he's on standby in case Lebby fails to produce by midyear.

I definitely think there are much easier jobs than resurrecting state and UNLY is one of them, but its the > $ part I'm not seeing. Where do you think he lands?
Early favorites are Nebraska and Wisconsin, but there could be some higher profile jobs to open up.

Is Dan looking for an easier job? Did being fired at Florida take all the heat out of him? I don't think so.

I highly doubt Dan would ever come back, even if offered.

The crazy thing to me is many of our fans wouldn't take him back.

I say crazy, bc he'd put a hell of a lot better product on the field than what we've seen since he left...outside of a few outliers.

I suppose enough money would talk, but honestly, Starkville as a town may not be the easiest place to offer someone. On the other hand, he might be the highest salaried (total compensation) person in the entire state, unless Golding does well and gets some big increases.

i don't think he's looking for an easier job either. But If I can get the same or > $ (as state) to get 7-8 wins a year at Wisc or Neb. I think that's an easy decision. And that said, much easier path to the CFP from Lincoln than from Starkville, Columbia or Lexington. The B10 is very top heavy so plenty of bottom feeder wins on the table + cupcake NC. 8 wins per year very do-able.

It’s college football, I’d watch if it was teams coached Vaught and Freeze.

I hate it starts at 9. It’s the game I wanted to watch most this weekend. I’ll be asleep even if I tried to stay awake.

Starkville will never be for everyone. Many coaches from higher population centers can't handle the transition down to a small-town atmosphere, but usually it's the wives that are the problem. We have to understand that and recruit coaches accordingly.

You'd think a person could adapt if they had an $8 or $10 million salary. But money, once you have it, isn't really a motivator, if I recall what Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs says. But then there's self-actualization, which one could argue being the head football coach of an SEC school, and the wife thereof, puts a person pretty near the top in that category, at least in small and mid-sized towns - especially in the South.

lol Dan couldn’t get any of the players he used to get under this system and would get creamed at State in the current system. He knows this , he isn’t stupid. UNLV has the most cash in the revamped MWC. Pretty easy gig

Weren't they essentially bankrupt a couple years ago? Couldn't afford Dan's salary?

But yes, you're right about the schedule and the existing system. It's easy to see why Saban left. He might not be doing as well as DeBoer is.

Yea that’s how they signed Arnold because they don’t have any money. In the Revamped MWC they have the most cash. Cake schedule

Past my bedtime as well....would like to see it tho. I think UNLV will roll memphis state but will be watching the memphis state corch to see if he is really for real. He was at Mississippi Southern last year.

Ive seen enough from Memphis to know I don’t want Huff. No way I want to go back to hurrying to the line of scrimmage after each play with 28 seconds left on the play clock just to force the offense to sit there until 10 seconds left before running the play. That is miserable watching them wait…and wait …..and wait. Run the damn play!
