If it was a gas station, storage area, or hotel he’d approve it in a second. Seems to be all we have going up nowadays other than a couple of fast food places.

she was one of the best among us if they aren’t lowered for her no one deserves it

I posted exactly about this a few days ago. I am not usually a fan of entertainers getting half staff honors unless there are extenuating patriotic and/or humanitarian circumstances. Bob Hope, for example. I think Dolly's literacy program, disaster relief, and hospital building put her in the honor category. Lots of public service going way beyond performing arts excellence.

My issue with his statement is that it is filled with his opinion. What if in his opinion he doesn't like chocolate ice cream and thinks it should not be sold in Olive Branch. He can't unilaterally decide to remove all chocolate ice cream from the city.
Multiple celebrities have died during his time as mayor and the President has not declared flags should fly at half staff for any of them. So for him to declare that someone who works in the entertainment industry is undeserving of such an honor, that is pretty predjudicial.
