Say what you want but LSU is going to have the pro guys they want on the field playing and nothing will be done, and the rest of the SEC will be sucking Shankey nuts. We need to go ahead and do it too. Nothing will happen. This is a onetime thing for these guys in the 2022 class. Let them play.

Simple solution: this is a state court. The SEC bans members from playing in the state of Louisiana, and it bans LSU from playing at members of the SEC outside of Louisiana. Enough is enough.

I think the State judge will give it to the Feds. Hell it was the Supreme Court that open the door to NIL that started all this crap so who knows what the FEDS do. If they side with LSU we need to hop on board.

Just now listening to ESPN, sounds like tomorrows court proceeding in Alabama may be a roadblock.
I would not be surprised if the Federal Court rules in LSU favor. Guys in the 21 class got fifth year and the guys in the 23 on are getting fifth year but the guys in the 22 are not getting fifth year. I would not be surprised to what happens but if the Federal Court rules against LSU and the State judge keep to his guns LSU has a decision to make. I think they are just stupid enough to play them.
The class of 2021 did not get a 5th year. Only guys that spent time in juco did.
If you graduated HS in 2021 and enrolled in a 4 year college you only got 4 years. No covid year. People keep repeating this incorrectly.
Okay. Even so I could see the FEDS ruling for LSU. They did it for the 2020 buys and now 2023 guys. They might think right is right.
The argument that blocking the SEC from enacting sanctions against its members is unconstitutional seems to be a legit argument. I'm no snake, I mean attorney but looks good on the surface. What am I missing?
I think it could. The public is overwhelmingly against this crap.

The federal court in Alabama will not be ruling on the eligibility of players. It will be ruling on whether a state court in Louisiana can prevent the SEC from enforcing conference rules against LSU.
A federal court in Colorado looked at this issue under antitrust law, and held the 5 for 5 rule had to apply retroactively, and granted an injunction allowing everyone to play. That injunction was stayed by the appelate court, and her entire decision will be the reviewed in an expedited appeal.
Penalizing LSU for violating conference bylaws is a protected form of internal organizational expression & governance, rather than a defiance of the law.
The league claims it has a constitutional right not to be forced to associate its brand, logos, and championships with conduct its members have explicitly voted to condemn.
Like I said I'm no attorney & could be way off, but seems sensible to me. I can't stand LSU though so I could be looking thru biased lens.
The court is not requiring LSU to put the players on its roster. The court is ruling the players are eligible and LSU is CHOOSING to place them on its roster (maybe...we find out tomorrow).
No. The order enjoins LSU from taking actions that negatively impact the athletes which most are interpreting to mean they have to roster them. I mean 2 of these guys started for CFP semifinalists.
Haven't seen the order, and I don't trust Ryan Downton's spin on things. I don't think the court has authority to do that. But its Louisiana, so I wouldn't be that surprised if the judge tried it.
