Welcome to Kentucky Milan, where Murphys law rules, just kidding. He could still shoot the ball with 3 fingers on that hand, I’m not to worried about it.

You should hate people that support mediocrity.

We love the team.

We hate the mediocre coach (hate is strong, I just wish he weren't the coach).
I wanted him fired. They didn't. I will judge this team on how they perform, not on what you think they are

Concerns are fine,we all have them. It's the constant negativity and season is over and pope sucks and pope whiffs again bs that everyone is sick and tired of seeing. And if we don't agree then we aren't real fans and support mediocrity gaslighting bs. Every thread....like a broken record.
I don't disagree with the largely negative stuff, but man...you have to admit, championing Pope is the very definition of supporting mediocrity.

I think it just gets eye-rolling for people that there's no middle ground for posters/fans online. (Especially on this board)
If you don't think every setback spells complete disaster for the team you're dismissed as a "pumper".

Losing Mitchell after having him committed sucks and lowers our ceiling/floor.
Milan breaking a finger sucks.
It's possible to agree with both of the above statements while also still liking the roster we have and being of the mindset that Milan breaking a finger in early-September (probably) isn't the end of the world.

(Though to be fair, If it had been something worse like I feared when I originally saw the "Bad news for Basketball" headline I probably would of went full doomer as well.)
I feel like I have a fairly middle ground approach. No, I'm not like the pumpers and think this is a national championship team. I also am not like the doomers and think something is horribly wrong if we manage achieve a round of 32 or sweet 16 exit. I'm happy with that result.

What this has resulted in has been an extreme level of hate and name-calling and vitriol from both sides. With that level of hate directed at you from all sides then it's easy to see why people on this board cling to their herds of either pumper or doomer instead of saying yes this is probably not a championship team but it's still a team that's going to make me happier for watching it and being a fan.

As will I, but I can certainly prognosticate (just like you can) about their likely finish and about the concerns I have. You'll continue to childishly call anyone scared that has similar concerns.

FTR...I didn't want him fired. I think he needed year 3. He didn't deserve year 1 or 2, so I'm not going to say he deserved it. But he didn't do anything in year 1 or 2 to make me think year 3 wasn't a fair ask. If anything, I'd like to see an injury-free year 3 just to see what he's capable of.

If you're happy with a S16 or round of 32 exit, this might not be the place for you. That's complacent, not rational.

Takes two to tango. The compulsion to respond adds to the broken record nature. You don’t have to argue with everything you disagree with every time.

The premature anxiety and doomsday prophecies are expected from the most passionate fanbase in college basketball. But I am so sick of the injury drama. It’s every freaking year.

I'm here because I love Kentucky, class of 2015. Always have and always will. It doesn't matter what the team on the floor is and I wanted to be around other people that love Kentucky too whether that's by criticizing it and saying what needs to happen for the program to improve or whether it's by people who support it no matter what and go into each year believing a title is possible. Kentucky fandom is a place big enough for all and I believe most of all the comments come from people who do care about Kentucky.

You guys sure are triggered easy about Pope.....why is that?
UKcowboys and Pauline are the worst posters on the board, and in a world with guys like @Starrcade and @Beatle Bum that’s saying something. The bad news about the closure of the FB board. Is now these mouth breathers are all over here, I think it’s time for Paul to tell us, John Wooden was trash his first two years at UCLA. So we should just give Pope more time. UKcowboys is easily a woman. Probably a weird celebrity crush thing going on there? Starrcade is on his 70th account, since @Cardsstink and is a homosexual stalker. It’s the same band of misfit toys every time.

Extremely fair take I'd bet probably 75% of the board would agree with. Weren't necessarily thrilled with the hire, but he's the coach so we'll try and support him while voicing legit concerns (resume, lack of post season experience, lack of high major experience, poor lifetime winning percentage for the level of job he's undertaking). Years 1 and 2 were injury riddled, over-performed (for him and having to build a roster from scratch late in the portal cycle due to hire date) and a sweet 16 finish got him some grace and small measure of hope for year 2, a decent high school recruiting class for a Coach without much pedigree recruiting in those high level recruit waters (Johnson, Moreno, Lewis). Year 2 was an extreme departure in the opposite direction (decommit from Lewis, only 1 PG on the roster, the JQ gamble that didn't pay off, multiple pieces that did not fit, despite the roster (and expectations) for that team being off the charts early. It gave plenty of fans the reason to question and doubt Pope, but again, probably 75% of the fanbase assumed year 3 was coming and that he hadn't done any egregious enough to justify getting canned yet, though the seat was definitely warming up. The high school recruiting cycle for year 3 was a disaster, the portal had its ups and downs but we did end up with a solid and high ranked (but probably not as elite as it could have been had he hit on a few more first options) portal haul. And that's where most of us are. Cautiously optimistic about this season. Ready to move on if he fails to deliver, ready to give him some more grace if he shows solid improvement.

The Nancies promote doom and gloom even before the first tipoff of the season. It’s redundant and has become reflective of this board because they do it ad naseum. Even if you would have never hired Pope, no rational fan or observer would have fired him after year 2. People keep saying Pope cannot use injuries as “excuses,” but I have never heard him do that. Nevertheless, the facts are the facts and if you ignore injures in the analysis, YOU are the irrational one.

You can argue both sides of the doomer and pumper coin. I bought into last year's offseason and some here did not and they turned out to be mostly correct, injuries be damned. Some guys just didn't mesh well.

Losing Mitchell is a blow, but I am going to choose to be more optimistic than not. Pope got a lot of mileage out of guys who liked each other in year one, despite injuries even. I think he has his best team this season and they all seem to get along well. We shall see.

All you can do is laugh at most of the ones in here and put them on ignore. I put 5+ long time posters on ignore just from this thread alone.. 😂

I have no interest with interacting with low IQ trolls. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was a fair high school basketball player, ok maybe an exaggeration, but I jammed my shooting hand right before the season began. My normal shooting touch never returned during the season. It was fine the next October when season began so I’m still somewhat concerned.

By the time he goes through UK's thorough rehab progression, it might be time for the SEC tournament . Doesn't it typically go... solo work/ no contact, 1v1, 2v2 , 3v2, 4v2, 4v3, 4v4, and finally 5v5(but only half court of course)? Actually, I probably missed some.
