What a joke. There's always been a way to kick LSU or anyone else out of the league for any reason or no reason at all. It's right there in the conference bylaws. This is just more grandstanding and posturing. They don't need a court to tell them they can kick LSU out of the league.

Is this the first big domino to topple? Is this about to become an actual minor league football league unaffiliated with the ncaa?

burn it down

No. LSU hasn't played the players or put them on the roster. And apparently they won't unless they get a favorable ruling in this Federal court lawsuit.

My guess is that it is a move (1) intended to give the Coonasses a moment of pause and (2) an end around to any lawsuit that LSU would likely file to stay any explulsion in the highly unlikely event that LSU really did punch all the buttons...

Clay Travis reporting that he has been told that all 15 of the non-LSU schools are ready to terminate membership if those players play.

It is likely that LSU will back down.

College football is just dead. Kamario has a good game and all talking heads can talk about is whether he will be at LSU, Alabama or Ohio State next year. You just cant have a great player not at one of 10 schools.

1. They won't kick LSU out even if they do play them.
2. LSU has already backed down.
3. This is and has always been much ado about nothing.
This will end the same way that 99.9999999% of all other lawsuits end. With some type of internal settlement or agreement that is never known publicly, or really impactful towards any future policy or rules of procedure.

Whole thing could also be an internal ruse to get the SCSA passed.

I don't know. It's wild to imagine but I think the sec is pretty damn serious about this. You don't go filing civil suits in federal court and going public with it, without the intention following through.

Will it come to lsu being kicked out? I doubt it. But I think this is a very serious matter and the sec has had enough of lane kiffin's bs.

Too bad he didn't stay at Ole Miss and recruit pro players. I would love to see those fools losing their minds. Also, I despise LSU, too.
It would be the most MSU thing ever to see LSU get kicked out of the SEC…..after all the schadenfraude and gloating when Kiffin left OM….knowing that it would have been Ole Miss that got kicked out instead if he chose to stay.

I don't think they will have a choice, you can't issue an ultimatum and not follow through or you lose any credibility you have left
They’d put it up for a vote for the other 15 members, and once ESPN made it real damn clear what an LSU-less SEC would mean for their revenue share payouts for the TV deal, the motion would get zero votes.

They'd just replace LSU with Florida State or Clemson and keep on rolling. LSU isn't Alabama. The SEC would be just fine without LSU.

Exactly. It would be a disaster for the SEC if they flowed through in the empty threat. And then the Big 10 would happily take them & get a strong foothold right in the heart of sec country.

You mean the same Big 10 that took the same exact position as the SEC did on the issue that got LSU kicked out the SEC in the first place?

Yeah, I know LSU has won nattys across all sports but I've never gotten the impression lsu has more than a regional following. They don't have the national appeal of Notre Dame or Alabama.

if it comes to it, if I'm the sec. I'm recruiting Miami. They have a national following and intrigue.

Correct. It would just hasten the collapse of the ACC.....if it happened, which it won't.

Yeah right. The Big 10 isn't touching LSU with a 50-foot pole. All the power conferences are united on this. LSU can try to go independent, but they won't be able to schedule games with anybody worth a crap. They are not Notre Dame. They have a regional following that is enhanced by them being in the SEC. LSU needs the SEC way more than the SEC needs LSU.

I agree it's in the bylaws, but if a judge says yes, you have the right to kick them out, it eliminates LSU suing to stay in. The question has already been ajudicated.

Edited to add; someone else already pointed this out. I didn't read the entire thread.

Ultimately here is what I think is happening.

No, LSU is not going to be kicked out of the SEC, but a message is being sent.

Presidents are in charge of universities. Not football coaches. Not athletic directors. Not governors.

LSU's President left for Rutgers and the governor pushed them to hire McNeese State's president. The entire fiasco that has been LSU athletics in the last couple of years has been under a puppet president. The governor of Louisiana and his donors are running LSU and its time for that to stop. This vote on Thursday is the SEC slapping its dick on the table and saying we have the bigger one. Try us.

Power play by the SEC. “Y’all better reign your boy in” is the idea. That includes Governor Clueless and the boot-lickers he put in place after his coup last year. I think some of you ‘it won’t ever happen’ boys are wrong about this. Greg Sankey and the college presidents have had enough of this sheet.

They'd let a few teams vote for it just to make it look legitimate, but it would be 2-3 short of enough votes to make it happen.

Where is all the outrage for getting an extra year for tonsillitis. I feel like this is really one sided.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if you needed a court order to have the authority to tell your kids what time to go to bed. Pending the kids' lawsuit against you, of course.

I think they are completely serious. If pro players are allowed, it eventually becomes a de facto pro league, and the SEC is done as an institution.

ETA Just about every school is tired of Kiffen and his antics really beginning with the public fiasco he and Ole Miss created after last season. They are pretty much sending LSU a message to get a handle on him right now, we are done with his ****.

That's what it is. LSU will retreat eventually and the SEC won't do anything of substance...unless Lane won't ever stop running his mouth. Which is possible.
