My wife just got back home and told me O’Charley’s in Tupelo was notified this morning they were closing. Apparently this is nationwide, but I may be wrong. I’ve eaten many a buffalo chicken sandwich there in my day. Hate to see these types of places closing ever since Covid.

Back in the day, the “kids eat free” reeled my family in many a Sunday.

the one in hattiesburg closed at least a year ago, maybe 2. The Red Lobster also closed; I was surprised by that one b/c it was always packed when I rode by.

I thought they'd closed nationwide several years ago. Must have made a comeback, and now are closing again.

We are seeing the culling of poor performing restaurants. Crappy food, poor service and high prices aren’t going to work anymore. Consumers are being more selective.

Respect to companies that listened to customers and are turning corners. Looking at you Chili’s.

TGI Friday's is critically endangered. Will probably be extinct next year. Applebee's has lost some stores but still hanging on.

I went to the one in Olive Branch about 2 months ago on a Friday afternoon and I was 1 of 4 customers and plenty of “waitstaff”. I left about 30 minutes later after never placing an order.

That one has been terrible for a while now. The last time we went in the one in Southaven we sat down and were never served and after 15 minutes we left.

They tore it down and now it’s where Canes is.

i hated that it closed, occasionally we would order carry out and my wife would pick it up when she left work at the hospital. It got so bad there they never had the order anywhere close to correct.

I thought TGI Friday’s gave up the ghost years ago. Shocking it’s still around.

Everytime we pass an Applebees I wonder why it’s not closed down yet. Truly awful restaurant.
Same. Places like TGI Fridays and Ruby Tuesday had good food once upon a time, but I have never understood how Applebee's stays open, much less got to be a national chain in the first place.

They have done so well over the last couple of years. 3 for me and quality over quantity have them rocking and rolling. You can get a burger, fries, app and drink for as much as a McDonalds meal.

There’s a video of the CEO explaining how they fixed the whole fry making process with simple changes. Make the holes in the shaker bigger so you only have to shake it 3 times vs 30. Only make fries on demand. Nothing under a heating lamp. Small changes but they make a massive difference.

I’ll miss their potato soup and pepper jack wedges.
A bowl of loaded potato soup each for my wife and I with an appetizer sampler platter in the middle of the table used to be awesome about 20 years ago. Something changed with the recipe though and it just became not good. Haven't been in a decade or more.

The O'Charley's in OB used to be really good but the quality had fallen way off over the last few years. Crappy food and crappy service at an inflated price usually ends like this.

I'm saw one open in the Nashville area recently and was surprised. It thought they all had closed.

I'm in awe of Applebee's and Chili's in Madison remaining in business, side by side. Given all the good local food available, I never end think about those restaurants.
