A lot of the top folks involved in a.i. are blowing the whistle this week saying it is accelerating way too fast and out of control. I tend to believe it, but I don't know how you get everyone in the world to agree to stop trying to advance something that gives you so much power.

Just giving ya shit. There are duplicate or redundant threads all the time on here. This thread today at the top of the forum might spark someone who hasnt yet posted and has some insight.

At this point it doesn't seem completely outlandish to consider treating AI similarly to how we do nuclear weapons: international frameworks, very high security clearances for decision makers, all that jazz. Heck, even a start in that direction would be nice.

Literally.....it's how they keep the pitchforks away. Only 10% of the population are CCP members. All these beloved foreign students, doctors and teachers on visas are members or children of members. The "others" can't afford to send their kids anywhere.

With the caveat that we can't regulate ourselves into second place.....whatever the hell that entails.

The whatever the hell it entails part is what you're describing. It needs oversight and guard rails but what good is it if it's the second best out there. Alternatively, what good is it if we kill off the human race.....screw it I'm joining the AI can't even spell group so I don't have to worry about it. I'm sure the elephants, donkeys and psycho socialists can figure it out. If only it could fix the portal or increase our nil.

Yep. The obvious starting place is the UN, stuff like this is kinda what it exists for. We're all aware of the limitations in that institution.

It seems highly possible one day. Ai hackers put it on auto pilot and next thing you know nuclear weapons firing all over the world. Oh well….had a pretty good run. Time for another 🍺

The big companies want regulation because it’ll limit new competitors. There may be safety issues but part of this is related to strategy and decreasing competition. Not dissimilar to when Sam Altman said AI is a bubble

Is all party of the plan for the few to have and control everything after majority of population is wiped out from bio weapons. Massively reduce the population and automate everything that is needed for the few remaining and they won’t have to work - that’s their goal.
