Not a big hockey guy but really enjoyed listening to him on Sports Center

One of the staples to watching espn back on the day when it was tolerable. Didn’t know a thing or cared about hockey but you got use to seeing him as he was literally the only hockey guy they seemed to give air time too.

Almost certainly was a core reason. Similar how it appears many NFL players who have their brains given to science seem to always have varying levels of CTE.
Even headers in soccer can lead to CTE
Sad to learn ... always liked him and enjoyed listening to his commentary. Seemed like a straight-shooter. R.I.P.
Dude could hit the ball a mile, just liked the juice a little too much.
To this day whenever I see Calgary I read it like Melrose pronounced it: Cal Gary. RIP.
