I'm not disparaging the award at all, but "38th best pizza in the world!" sounds a little contrived.

Although now that I'm seeing it in print, it should probably be the focal point of their marketing!

It sure must be nice to have a job that let's you travel the world and eat at the best restaurants to determine who has the best food. Whoever got that job hit the jackpot. If anybody disagrees with them, they can pull the, "your palate is not as sophisticated as mine" card.

That pizza sounds really good as I bake my frozen Jacks pizza. Now I'm not so happy with my lunch choice.

Naples has great pizza so she knows what she's doing if she studied there. I hope to be in Naples this summer; it's a cool, gritty city. But they think they're the only ones who make great pizza and laughed when I mentioned that you can find good Neopolitan pizza in America plus a bunch of other types of pizza that are just as good (if not better). They don't think it's possible but they're wrong. They dismiss most Italian American food also even though some of their 'authentic" Italian dishes are post-WWII creations. Anyway, this is just another example of the little gems you can find throughout MS. I need to go there.

My wife's grandparents are Sicilian. I brought this up once & she vehemently argued it was BS. I love her cooking so I dropped it.

We have Italian food for Christmas! I didn't know that was even legal?*

If you know what a real pie tastes like, you'll enjoy it.

If you've been raised on the chains, Red Baron's and Tony's pizza bites, you'll probably be disappointed.

Yes, went there a couple of weeks ago. Slightly underwhelmed. Good, but didn't justify the hype, IMO. I prefer NY style though.

I eat a lot of pizza, I've never had great pizza outside of Boston and Manhattan.

How about if you’ve been raised on Dominoes and Little Caesars? Never mind…I see the chains listed as well.

Italian American food is great. Those immigrants came up with some tasty dishes with the ingredients available to them. Hell I love spaghetti and meatballs, something you won't find in Italy. Apparently it's a crime to put meatballs on pasta (and you can't put chicken on it either). They won't admit it but Italian American soldiers taught Italians brethren a few things when we fought and occupied Italy. As Americans we have freedom to experiment with food. I like that. I like trying different gumbos. BTW, I have a cousin with Sicilian ancestry and he makes sure there are a couple of Italians dishes for Christmas. I have to have some of those fig cookies every Christmas.

There used to be a place in Biloxi called Bootleggers that made Chicago-style tavern pizza that was my favorite pizza place. I'm partial to tavern style pizza. I haven't eaten there in years but I liked Brooklyn Pizza (Or Pizzaria) in Gulfport. New Orleans has several good pizza places (Zee's, Forbidden Pizza, Gio's, Il Supremo and St. Pizza and Magazine Pizza near the WWII Museum). I like pizza.

I had some European coworkers in town a few weeks ago, and a German woman was telling me on the first night that the one thing she really disliked about dining in America is the beer. Then she went on to list Budweiser, Coors, etc as the ones that she’d tried.

Long story short, we stopped at a bar that night, and I got her to try a Voodoo Ranger Juicy IPA, and she loved it. Like, literally talked about that beer (and our queso dip) for the rest of the trip. Sometimes, I don’t think a lot of non-Americans realize what we have here

Truth is, if you don’t dig for the truth of things yourself and depend on media basically the world over to give it to you straight, your going to be ignorant and sad basically all the time.

Kinda like the vast majority of our “journalists”.

I've seen people drinking Bud everywhere in Europe. It's kind of popular. I'm partial to German beers, especially pilsners, but I don't know of any country that has a beer culture like ours. America really innovated craft brewing and now Europe has a number craft beers. I was in Meridian the other day and stopped by Threefoot Brewing for the first time. I liked the Italian Pilsner and my wife liked the Gritty Reboot. Bought a couple of growlers of each for the game tomorrow. Speaking of Meridian, I still see way too much Alabama swag at Walmart and Academy.

Obviously because Meridian is the closest town of size for a lot of Alabama residents.

Even in this era of scamming the government for your living, capitalism still rules in the good ole US of A.
