Can Sellers show up and steal the spotlight?

It's time
Your example of Mississippi State is really premature. Jeff Lebby is in his 3rd year and went 2-10 and 5-8.

Let's see how this weekend plays out before crowning Jeff Lebby as the next best thing in college football.

Amen

I want that to happen. Sellers needs to get out of his head and play sharp. You can see when his confidence is low because he takes too long to decide and gets sloppy in his lower body. KT has been consistently sharp. I'm not sayiny the roof isnt high for Sellers, but Shula definitely left him with scar tissue.

Maybe he needs to relax and play a few hours of Madden to get back into game shape.

I think the whole team "relaxed" for Towson after the big season opening blowout. Sellers looked sharp and decisive in the opener and I expect more of the same this week.

I can see the relaxing theory if that means they thought too much of themselves after Kent St and thought they could just show up against Towson and get the same result.

If I were Sellers, I'd be coming into this game with a fire in my gut. He was the man a couple of years ago. The shine wore off last year, but many were willing to chalk that up to Shula. Now the MSU QB Taylor is the new Sellers everyone is enamored with. He's all anyone is talking about this week.

If Sellers is gonna show up, this is the week to do it.

NFL will be watching this week for sure! But we don't need Sellers to be a one man stat show. Be a sharp and decisive leader of an efficient offense with the occasional highlight clip when needed to move the ball.

Kamario Taylor is the toast of the college football world at the moment. As with Sellers a couple years ago, some already talking about him as a top QB in the 2028 draft. The NYT ranked him a top 10 QB after 2 starts. Basically, anyone who is involved with college football is on the Kamario Taylor train right now.

This would be a game for Sellers to put his stamp on. A lot of folks are tuning in to see what Taylor can/will do. Not nearly as many folks talking about Sellers in this one. Would love for him to show out and steal the spotlight.

Equally important is whether our D can show up. We have the #1 ranked defense in CFB right now. We'll find out on Saturday if that's purely a product of who we have played.
Well, he is clearly a better passer than Sellers thus far. He isn't underthrowing the deep ball and overthrowing the intermediate ball. He may not be quite the runner Sellers is, but he doesn 't need to be if he can hit those passes from the pocket. And honestly, he's a threat running the ball as well. I do not feel good about our chances of winning this game if Sellers is passing the ball like he has the past games.

One game, my man. Sellers was pretty damn good against Missouri two years ago in an actual big game. Look at what you think of him now. Taylor's team lost the only big game he has ever played in, the Egg Bowl last year. I am not saying that the guy can't be great. I am just saying you are making a big rush to judgment. It's still too early in the season to judge anyone. Everyone, including me, wanted to throw dirt on Michigan after their Week 1 debacle against Western Michigan only to see one of the supposed top SEC teams embarrass themselves at the Big House the following week.
Yes, but if you're a long time carolina fan like I am, you'll realize we have made these QBs look like Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson. He may not be great, but he'll perform like superman this saturday. We have a habit of trying to make excuses for why we let the other team win instead of us just beating them.

Sellers CAN make all the throws as he has shown in the past.

I think it's a mental thing, and that's what I want to find out from him in this game. I don't know if he has it between the ears. He looked the part in 2024 against Mizzou and Clemson, leading absolutely enormous game-winning drives in high pressure situations. Not so much last year.

We'll see in this game if he has the mentality to show up and take control.

That's a great question. My answer is probably habit and it's my alma mater. But I have zero faith in Beamer; it's discouraging seeing other teams, like Indiana or the one we play this weekend, who hire a new coach and things improve instantly. We're in the sixth year of Beamer, and he's not improving. He's no better than Brad Scott or Sparky Woods.
THIS. We always make excuses and keep bad coaches around with huge buyouts after a "good" season against struggling teams. Then you see someone like lebby go and get a team winning in like 3 years. It baffles the mind.

You are correct. He has all of the skills necessary. I think it's just the mental aspect of the game that's getting him at the moment.

I saw a Briles difference in Sellers in Game 1 but I think the whole team was mentally "off" last week.
Looking for the Briles impact on Sellers to return this week with the same crispness and focus to the offense.
