I don’t like Cohen. But he did save our baseball program. Polk had run it into the ground. I think he’s overrated as a baseball coach. I felt like he was headed for big things. But obviously it flamed out. It’s hard to believe that whole tenure was only like 20 months.
I will say basically his whole time at Auburn feels like an abject failure.
We could've hired any decent coach and gotten to the CWS, we've proven that. Cohen didn't save a thing for us. He also has proven to have killed the primary provider for athletics at State. Now AU is catching on to it as well. And who hired that one coach that got caught in a scandal and didn't make the CWS? That would be Cohen.

You look stupid criticizing him as a baseball coach. He did what no coach had ever done at MSU. Also got us the first SEC title since 1989 and first national seed since 1997. SECT title since 2005. You’re being an imbecile. Started getting guys drafted highly again.
And no matter how it turned out, he also hired a guy who won us our first national title.

End of the day, we got a Super berth, Triple Crown winner and an Omaha trip out of Cann’s two years. Factually it was a failure but results wise, the baseball program succeeded, because he fixed it.
Agree on Auburn, it’s been pathetic. And he could have fixed it there too by hiring Sumrall like Finebaum said. But he screwed up and overthought it.
100% Cohen the baseball coach is 100% solid. As an AD, he 17ing sucks and that suckage doesn't include his 17ed up holier than thou personality.

Second sentence: Florida dominated Auburn. With 8 minutes left Florida was up 17 and had outgained Auburn 480 to 210. Auburn couldn’t do anything until Florida parked the bus. It was a dominant performance. And one of the reasons Florida is favored this week.
I’m thankful everyday that Auburn took him off our hands. Keenum would’ve let him stay for another decade and keep letting us fall further and further behind in NIL and fundraising.
The Legacy Group thing that he tried to push was a disaster that never went anywhere. NIL becomes legal and our first reaction is let’s do a little bit to take care of the baseball team and we’ll worry about other sports later. What a moron. reading is not your strong suite is it? I said he was a good recruiter, not me. His team management and in game decisions left a lot to be desired.
Cohen was worthless beyond a baseball coach he was a good baseball coach but wanted too much control and couldn't handle more than baseball coach.

I do wonder what the conversations were like when he was vying for the AD position here. Was Cohen in Keenums office every day begging for the job? What were his qualifications for the role other than being a Coach and a Mississippi State graduate? Did he point to Ray Tanner/Skip Bertman repeatedly saying that we should do the same here? Did we seriously even look at other AD candidates?
It was the baseball boosters pushing him and he got in under Loafers "guidance" and let's face it Keenum struggled with a lot back then too
I remember the Auburn people gloating that they had stolen our AD. We just kept telling them thank you. It baffled them. I bet it doesn't baffle them now.
