Bad news the last 48 hours in Oxford....5 Ole Miss students have died as of this morning from what was originally thought was fentanyl overdoses....my daughter is a student there and has shared some messages going around to the students with warnings....apparently it is a drug called cyclorphine which is a synthetic opiate

horrible news as they found another one this morning .....pass the word around....apparently making its way around college campuses

Good grief. That's terrible. There has been a LOT of publicity about street drugs being laced with fentanyl, and other bad things. I hope the students are listening.

Man that’s terrible. I feel like stuff being laced just was not prevalent when I was in college. Kids these days just need to assume everything is laced with fentanyl and stay away.

Not to be my advocate, but this seems like a simple fix. Do not take pills that you have no clue what they are, and the kids should be fine. Or to expand on the thinking do not take anything you are not prescribed to, and you should be fine.

Yup. You basically are limited to weed and alcohol these days if you don’t want to take an unreasonable risk. Or pills you get from the pharmacy. Too many counterfeit prescription pills to trust any pill you aren’t getting directly from the pharmacy yourself and pretty much any street drug but thc is at risk of being mixed with fentanyl to stretch supply.

Hopefully it is fake, but kids (and adults) should always assume that a street pill contains something - fentanyl or something else. Better yet, just stay away from street drugs altogether. And prescribed drugs unless they're prescribed for you.

It absolutely sucks. Drugs are never ok but at least when millennials experimented we didn’t have to worry about dying. The war on opioids created a massive black market where almost all opioids & benzos are bootleg home pressed using fent. Any college kid getting a Xanax has to assume it’s fent, or whatever synthetic this was, in 2026
