You guys are not connecting with THE POINT.

Should Lebby have thrown Kamario in as QB1 in most games last season or not? That's a question some of you have already been asking on here.

I don't think there is any question he would have given us a better opportunity to win games than Shapen - and he'd be as well conditioned playing SEC opponents as he appears now - maybe even better.

However, Dink feels that Lebby did the right thing by holding him on the sideline and letting him learn.

He could have ended up shell-shocked, discouraged, and injured - our o line was a sieve last season. Looks like Lebby has certainly put a better team around him.

But I guess since we haven't seen THE PLANS - they must not exist.

I did not think Lebby had the wits to call plays AND manage a football game. He has a track record or doing well as an offensive coord but not as a manager. I'm pretty sure he didn't have competent coaches that gave him confidence. So, he called plays hoping he wouldn't blow it which led to him being very predictable. This year has just been very different, obviously. It's like he is coaching loose knowing he has a generational QB who can make the plays as well as a noticeable difference in the quality of assistant coaches. Had he not made those changes after last year and if not for Taylor we would be singing a different tune.

I do think he walked into a mess after 2023 and year one was going to be rough no matter what. I can’t say I had us getting spanked by a MAC team, but I think the consensus on 2024 was we’d probably struggle.

Last year was kinda what I was afraid it would be, an improved program that hadn’t figured out how to win yet so I was worried we would take some close, painful losses, which we did.

It helps a lot to have a talent like Kamario at QB but Lebby clearly deserves credit for helping him develop. He’s a far better passer than he was a year ago. We also improved the coaching staff, the OL, the defense, and kinda loaded up in the WR room.

I have no idea what it all looks like in 2028 when Kamario is the starting QB for the Arizona Cardinals or whoever, but that’s a worry for another day. We were a bad football team 2023-2025. We now appear to be a good football team. I don’t think you can really dismiss Lebby’s contribution to that.

Kamario is different but let’s not act like we haven’t had misused star players in our history. Our success so far is due to the combination of Kamario and this offense.

So here's the deal. I don't necessarily believe that. A few things.
1. Coaching staff decisions the first two years were bad. Maybe he couldn't get those type of guys because they weren't sure if he would be here but the staff was terrible first two years.
Defense staff just wasn't it. He changed that up or was told to and brought in Arnett and Brock. That change alone has made a huge impact I feel like almost as much as KT's talent. Second this year he made a bunch of changes on offensive staff Kevin Johns, Phillip Montgomery, Matt Wells, Miller were all brought on to the staff which is a major upgrade in experience and what he is trying to evolve and improve the staff.
2. KT talent alone. That's a huge jump in the production in offense. I do think the new offensive staff brought in is also helping the offense a lot and fine tune KT.
3. He's had some bone head decisions in the past during games. So far we haven't seen that, I think that's just a young coach figuring it out. If he has learned from it good.

There wasn’t gonna be any winning with Hutzler running the defense. Yes, he inherited at sh*t show in ‘23, but it was obvious from the git go that that Hutzler didn’t have it. It took balls for Lebby to re-hire Arnett, and balls for Arnett to come back.

Unfortunately for Lebby, because of his 2 first years resume, EVERY Game this year is a BIG game for him.
uSC was a big game. Missouri is an even bigger game. Why? Because it is at home. A near sellout crowd is expected. His team is favored by every gambling outfit. He has a generational QB and very talented receivers and running backs and a fairly decent defense. Falling flat and laying an egg Saturday will be on Lebby. He has a chance to make the Alabama game the second biggest game with them since 2014! Saturday against Missouri is a “Prove they are for real” SEC football team in 2026. Lose it, and it’s “oh well, still Missippi State.

We might be one decent LT and one decent backup LT from being able to legit compete with just about anybody. If our O-line is able to give K1 just decent protection and decent run-blocking, we just might could be elite.

Me too. I hope like hell I'm wrong and I'll gladly eat my crow. I wasn't convinced, and well, I'm still not convinced. Like I said in another thread, I'm just waiting on a meltdown of sorts. I feel a helluva lot better, but I'm cautiously optimistic.
