I don’t intend to bring any politics here. I don’t agree with Trump on much, but I 100% agree with him that people who drink and take substances are complete idiots unable to handle reality. Sucks that some people struggle to see that. Many of those people out there.
Hard to argue with any assertions about moral behavior, idiots, or the ability to handle reality that come from the President of the United States. I guess that settles it.**

Will Cain just said on Fox News that 2 students had died from unknown causes and the only commonality was Kratom found with both. They stopped short of calling it a drug overdose, so the University and Oxford Police are apparently being very cautious with what they release.
Will Cain? Come on. Use local news. That guy is just ragebait 4.0. He will say anything.

Not in the news. Seems like it would be if legit.

Sadly stuff like that rarely makes the news. That fentanyl is everywhere and is being pumped into the US in massive amounts, and I'd bet lots of people in high places are either hooked on it or are getting paid to look the other way. The videos from city streets showing dozens on homeless people slumped over on the verge of an OD is pitiful. It's sad that it's almost a requirement to carry Narcan now.

Terrible to hear. Any parent who drinks in front of their kids absolutely 100% condones taking drugs and substances such as this. Can’t blame the kids. They are just doing what their parents taught them to do. It truly sucks that some people can’t handle reality. Absolutely horrible to hear about these kids.

Occasionally I check one of your posts to remind myself why I ignored you. You never disappoint. Back to the closet you go…

Not to be my advocate, but this seems like a simple fix. Do not take pills that you have no clue what they are, and the kids should be fine. Or to expand on the thinking do not take anything you are not prescribed to, and you should be fine.

If it was only that easy. Kids are so susceptible to peer pressure, especially when they drink...which is often influenced by peer pressure. They'll take whatever anyone will give them in those vulnerable situations. That, and lots of people will have accidents or surgeries where they are given synthetic opiates for pain and often that evolves into looking for cheaper, more available alternatives to seek out that fix. It's a bad situation all around and the addict was just dealt a bad hand in life. It sucks and more needs to be done to fight it.

It absolutely sucks. Drugs are never ok but at least when millennials experimented we didn’t have to worry about dying. The war on opioids created a massive black market where almost all opioids & benzos are bootleg home pressed using fent. Any college kid getting a Xanax has to assume it’s fent, or whatever synthetic this was, in 2026
War on opioids and also bans on Sudafed. We basically opened up the chemical drug market to the cartels and China and now can’t undo it.

I have a friend whose daughter tried synthetic marijuana in several years ago and died shortly after doing so. He and his wife's life hasn't been the same and birthdays and Christmas are still difficult times for them. Unlike sigma, I know good parents sometimes have kids who do dumb things because that's what kids do sometimes. Most of the time, dumb mistakes don't lead to anything permanent.

This is me, too. I don’t get the lacing stuff with heavier more potent stuff. There’s people on the streets that would love some extra Fent. But dealers are lacing other recreational stuff with it?

Im pretty ignorant on this stuff.
It’s like the old rumor about the drug dealers who were feeling generous on Halloween and laced all the candy with their products. Free of charge.

I understand your point, and it is a good one. But the pill does not jump into their mouths anymore than the whiskey bottle does for an alcoholic. At some point it is a choice and to frame it any other way allows for an excuse. That is just my two cents.

They don’t know that the pill is laced. That’s the point. A slammed many ludes back in the day with no worries. Now? Some chinaman or Mexican have doctored the pills It’s sickening

Again, if it was only that easy. A choice, yes, but when you're having to decide between not using and having fun with your friends and not "letting them down," and/or not going to painful withdrawals, the choice becomes harder and harder to make. These people get wound up into using and addiction and don't even realize it, to the point where it gets out of control.

I can tell you with certainty that students at both State and UM have died from drug overdoses since my kid enrolled at State, and those deaths have largely avoided media pickup unless the families have been the ones publicizing it.
this is happening here....i have a relative on the OPD and he told me today this is happening with the ODs this week...

You used to slam quaaludes without worry?
That is such an absurd comment to make without it being ironic.
You don't realize the absurdity, so you then make it seem like now pills are suddenly dangerous.

While fentinyl laced pills are largely made outside the US, they are also made here.
It's sickening regardless of where they are made.

If they do or don’t know using the philosophy of not taking a pill given to you by anyone that is not a qualified professional to be prescribing you a pill, that would take care of it. Heroin addicts do not know which prick will be the one strong enough to make them od. A simple way to avoid a laced pill or a od on heroin would be not to take it. You take a random pill from anyone you are taking a risk. Does it suck that these kids do not have a good idea of what they are messing with? Sure it does. But to say they do not know there is a risk to taking a random pill does not really hold water. No offense, just giving my two cents again. And I agree it all the way around is sickening.

The lobbyists fighting Kratom are pharma not Kratom lobbyists.
You must own a gas station. That's fine, but I'd rather y'all just go back to overcharging for gasoline than making those few extra bucks selling this shitt.

I have talked to too many cops/firemen/EMTs who have been called out to scenes where kratom was the cause of someone's death or near-death. That's why lots of individual city councils are voting to ban it in their cities... Unless you think Big Pharma has infiltrated the city councils in Richland, Ridgeland, Gluckstadt, etc.

It is an easy choice. I am sorry we will have to agree to disagree on that, at least for your first scenario. In your scenario with kids, it is an easy choice not to take a random pill just to look cool in front of your friends. Put my life on the line or look cool in front of my buds? I am sorry that it is an easy choice for me.

I will agree that there are habitual users that go through painful withdrawals and those withdrawals are a genuine reason for one to be influenced to use. But saying it is getting out of control is just another way of excusing the behavior. You are always in control of your actions. Sure, you can be influenced and some of those influences can be very powerful, but in the end it is still a choice. Do I think it is horrible that kids died? Of course, I do. But they are not dead due to some uncontrollable force. They are dead due to horrible choices. Again, just my two cents.

I don’t own a gas station I’m a mortician who looks at death certificates every day. Most cities definitely have connection to the lobbyists in Jackson. Kratom ban in Mississippi is tough because last time they tried it the public came forward and said please don’t. So there’s a lot of pressure on the lawmakers in both directions. Yes the cities are involved with lobbyists. And they work hand in hand with the state legislature.

most actual Kratom users get their Kratom from a reputable source. I’d be in favor of a gas station Kratom ban but if we do that we need to also get all the other drugs they sell and supplies. Gas stations have become a real problem I will agree with that.

If you are referring to always trying to do the right thing as that, I’ll take it all as a huge compliment. Our society is morally bankrupt on so many levels. I don’t worry about it.
Classic sigma. “I don’t worry about it” yet I post incessantly about it.

Pro tip: saying something and doing just the opposite is not always trying to do the right thing. Sometimes silence, is the right thing.
