How good is Missouri?

I've read their fans say that their defense is more talented than South Carolina's. They say the only place MSU is more talented is QB, and that's by a slim margin. Part of me feels like every team looks at MSU and says "they can't be that good, the defense is just sleep walking against K1. We can shut that down". Hopefully Missouri is like everyone else so far in that they realize they are a step slow on defense and we drub them. I heard so much about the 5 stars on SCAR's defensive line, that going forward I'm just going to assume an SEC defensive will be disruptive, but our offense can scheme around it. What do ya'll think?

They are good enough to beat us. Hoping MSU figures out a way to beat them and get some revenge on Drinkwitz. We need a home SEC win (would be first since 2022) so I think MSU will be highly motivated for those 2 reasons alone. We also need it with the tough October schedule coming up.

We need to play our A game and keep our foot on the gas. But, not sure how good Kansas is, Troy was a real struggle for them. Simmons played like schitt. Troy was able to pass on them almost at will. If we get the same team that played Troy and IF K1 starts quick it will be over by half.

Good enough that 20 minutes like the start of the South Carolina game will absolutely get us beat. Not good enough that we can't win if we play like we have most of the season though. Biggest test so far for both teams by far. I think the line is a bit high. Probably picking State, but could go either way.

I hope that doesn't happen in Starkville with the home crowd. K1 was was so amped and shaky.

Fans believing stuff like this has no bearing on the game. We have the full attention of Mizzou's coaching staff, just like we did of SC's and MN's.

I think fairly comparable to South Carolina, but better at QB and on the OL. I think they feel good about their DL too but have had some issues in the secondary.

I think we are going to get our share of big plays like we usually do. But need to limit mistakes and force them into some.

Just doing the schedule eye test I am not positive they are as good as South Carolina. They beat AR-Pinebull 54-14 (Big Whoop). The beat Kansas 38-21, a team that got beat by a very medicore Arizona State team. Then they struggled against Troy. Troy is known to have big games vs good teams but it is still early to see if they are any good. I think the game plays out something like 45-27 State.

That win against Kansas is more Power 4 wins than our three previous opponents combined.

Of huge (huge) importance, Ahmad (sp) Hardy is not playing - still recovering from gunshot. Don’t think he is playing. That is a big deal and huge positive that we don’t have to deal with an NFL running back all night.

They are what they are almost always: Middle of the pack. Good enough to beat you if you play badly and commit turnovers, but not great. If we play in the manner we should, we win.

ETA: South Carolina probably has better athletes, but they are not well coached.

My thoughts exactly. South Carolina has better talent than Missouri, but Missouri is much better coached.
They are playing two guys on their OL that both played a lot on our historically bad OL last season.
We are at home instead of on the road against South Carolina.
We should win.

Skill players are better for Mizzou, OL and DL better for Carolina. Drinkwitz coaches offense, Beamer to the muddy up the game, like Fleck. He's not a bad coach, just isn't considered the typical offensive wizard.

Will be a different test, but we should easily beat these guys if we're as good as people are saying.

"They were looking ahead" which is what I need explained to me. You mean that Simmons had less than 100 passing yards on purpose? Their "vanilla" gameplan was to be down 10-0 to Troy? I just don't subscribe to that. Charlie Winfield even said to not read into that. But it has to mean something.

I have driven home overnight a few times and been at church for an 8:30am rehearsal, including at the end of August, but it's not happening this time. As soon as church is over I get back in the car and go BACK to Starkville to perform Sunday night. No nap means I can't do the overnight drive, and that means leaving at halftime.
