One of the most disappointing games I ever attended as a kid was in Jackson the first time we played Missouri in 1981. This will be the first one I have been to against them since. 45 years is long enough to wait.

We can only go to a couple home games a year in our current stage of life. I decided at halftime of Minnesota that this was our first game. The team deserves a sellout the way they have played. It’s going to be raucous.

I was there too. Phil Bradley was their quarterback. He ended up playing baseball for the Mariners for a while. I did get autographs from John Bond, Johnnie Cooks, Micheal Haddix and Glen Young that day so all wasn’t lost. I was at that game also! My dad, class of 49 MSU, had a real close friend that lived in Jackson ms that was a Mizzu alum and a huge fan. Friend was always going on and on about how great Mizzu was to the point of being obnoxious. On national sports talk radio they were going off that they couldn’t believe that the game was a sellout just a week before the game. They were saying should have been sellout way before now. I was screaming at the radio that yall have very short memories. We just had for several years one of the worst teams in State history and fans were having a hard time getting behind this team.
And ranked number 9 in the country. We both went 8-4 that year. We lost to USM, them, Alabama, and Ole Miss. we beat Miami that year.
