I dont either, I figure 11-1 is the floor. Have you watched Michigans offense or USCs defense? Both are boderline top 25 type teams right now. Michigans big win over Oklahoma aint looking so great after Oklahomas one TD beat down of New Mexico.

I generally think that is true, but the SEC has been phenominal in non conference play this year so far. Oklahoma losing to Michigan and Arkansas losing to Utah are the only losses. No losses to any non P4 teams. wins over Clemson, Louisville, Ohio State, Florida State.

Nothing ground breaking perhaps but this is very different than the Big Ten which has seen teams lose a ton of OOC games paticularly against the ACC. And Rutgers losing to UMass.

Like in 2025, a Big 10 team very well may end up winning the conference's fourth NC in a row, but I think that this conference is beginning to shape up as being rather mediocre overall. It doesn't help when Duke beats Illinois, Mississippi State crushes Minnesota on the road, Wake beats Purdue, Rutgers loses not only to BC but also UMass, Okie State breaks an eleven game losing streak by beating Oregon, and WMU beats Michigan (even though they lost).

Yeah, the mid to low tier of the Big Ten looks faily mediocre or even weak. I dislike the SEC but would begrudgingly admit that it's middle and lower programs tend to be stronger than the Big Ten (more "depth") which particularly seems to be the case with results so far this year. It doesn't help when ostensibly better programs in the Big Ten like Indiana, USC or Penn St don't play any power foes non-conference.

And people dont understand why it's important for the Big Ten to win nonconference games
Michigan beat OU was really the only good thing. Maybe NW over Colorado. Would have been nice if we tried.

If the conferences would actually put aside their pride and perceived superiority long enough to appreciate the long green, they could have a 12-game schedule featuring in-conference games and out-of-conference games, just like the NFL does, which makes "strength of schedule" meaningless. No more cupcakes.

A nice side effect would be that it would give hacks like Dinich something less to pontificate upon. My goodness, sportswriters might have to find a real job!

The way to get rid of the committee is to have specific qualification criteria for each conference. Here is my ideal example:

14 team playoff
Top 4 BIG
Top 4 SEC
Top 2 Big 12
Top 2 ACC
1 Group of Five
1 at large/ND

The only committee involvement is selecting the one at-large team and the top Group of Five team.

It will never happen.
