That was a GREAT game and amazing experience for fans and the team.

THAT SAID: Glad the good guys figured out a way to win that game.

If the crew doesn't call that 17n ridiculous OPI on the drive we started on the 1 yard line already up 14 to nothing, we are going down the field to score and the game is over in the first quarter.

Our offense has issues on the left side of the line, but, dadgumit, Lebby knows how to dial up some amazing plays and our skill players know how to execute.

But you could not even call that holding. The initial call when it was delivered to the head ref was "block in the back." You can see the back judge tell him that and then thatbastard says OPI.

It wasn't a block in the back either. He just stood him up.

That was a huge momentum killer and so 17n wrong.

I will go back and read the in game thread at some point today, but have to say that was some bogusshit!

I may be wrong but if he made contact with the db before the ball left the qb hands, which it sure bookies like he probably did considering how long he maintained contact, isn’t that offensive pass interference?

That changed the entire tone of the game. Have no idea what went through the mind of the ref who threw that flag and then stood behind the call.

One call doesn’t change a game. Missouri took away our long pass game & started making fewer mistakes on offense.

Momentum swings are absolutely game changers. We had just made a big gain to get a first down. The penalty negated that, turned it into 3 and around 15 from inside our 10 and then we punted. We could have instead driven down the field and still stalled and eventually punted. But we wouldn’t have given them decent field position.

How does that not change the game?

I don’t think it ever showed when contact was initiated.

I agreed with the announcers when they said that based on the replay, it should have actually been holding that was called after the catch, and been a 10 yard penalty from that spot….not offensive pass interference.

Pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve ever seen OPI called when the DB that was the victim wasn’t even covering the intended target for the pass. Essentially it’s just like defensive pass interference, the ball has to be catchable. And it was absolutely not catchable for the held DB or the WR who was holding him, considering that the ball was thrown 30 yards away to a totally different receiver. It was a terrible call.

So I asked gemini and apparently OPI does not have a limitation like catchable ball unless it's contact that takes place after the ball is thrown in the area the ball is thrown (which seems weird, but I guess they treat OPI before the ball is thrown more like defensive holding; they're not going to try to figure out whether it impacted the play or how people reacted, just flag it).

Gemini seems confused. That is the same as defensive pass interference. Contact that takes place after the ball is thrown, in the vicinity of where ball was thrown. The flag on the play wasn’t thrown until like 1-2 seconds after the catch, so no way should they have been flagging an incident that occurred before the throw.

The contact made by our WR was nowhere near the vicinity of the throw, so it should have been holding and not OPI. Chances are that it still might not have allowed the first down, so result would have been the same. But it was absolutely not the correct call.

All I know is that momentum-wise, that was the biggest call of the game. I'm convinced we are up 21-0 if they don't make that phantom call.

I think it was more of hand fighting kind but then shifted to blocking once the catch was made. I think that was what Aaron Murray said at least.

The thing was the DB was just standing there because our WR had stopped. He was covering him until the pass was thrown.

Italian wasn't like he was leaving a WR wide open down the field because he thinks the RB is getting the ball. He didn't break that way until he was being blocked.

It was a very questionable, potentially game changing call but then so was the 4th and 1 run by KT that went our way right before Bothwell scored the tying TD in Q4. Those calls go both ways.
That might have been the only call we got. They had numerous including an obvious targeting call that the refs refused to even look at.

I was worried we were doomed when we didn't score at the end of the first half. Great thing was it wasn't and KT is smart enough to learn from the mistake.

I was shocked they didn't review that. I thought he made it easily live, but when they showed the replay right down the line of scrimmage, it was very, very close. Glad we got the next snap off quickly before the replay official buzzed down.

I was shocked that they didn't review the one late in the game when our WR got knocked out cold for a few seconds by a Missouri DB after running a route down the middle of the field. Looked like textbook targeting to me, and the guys on camera assured the audience that a replay booth had at least taken a glance at the tape, but there is no way that they could have come to a clear conclusion in that short amount of time.

Like most, I'm constantly just looking for a little consistency from the zebras. If that WR had been a UGA/Bama/LSU guy in front of his home crowd, there is zero chance they tell him to get up and play on

The missed holding against Fatt Forest on the Kaiden Lee spin move TD was kind of a big whiff by the umpire.
