Are We Really An Embarrassment?

Each started low and built us up though. Taking the overall average doesnt highlight that Holtz took over a 1 win team, went winless his first year, then built us to what, 8 wins his third year?
I think it's tied up in just a small number of players.
Those teams might spread it around more allowing to get more talent overall.
The word dysfunctional comes to mind. When players stop believing, they will shut it down and try not to get hurt. It's been that way here many times in the past. Money in the sport has made it worse. The NFL will take players with bad attitudes and little self-control so there's really no reason for them to act professionally. Beamer's finished even if he manages to hang on for another season. Apathy has set in.
2 years ago, Beamer was the right coach with the right staff building the right culture. We were playoff bound in 2025, Sellers was a Heisman favorite and a number one draft pick, Harbor was going to be a superstar WR and Stewart was high first round.
Did Beamer forget how to coach?
I am guessing these STARS came out of HIGH School better coached and prepared than they are now, No other reason IMO..

Neither Holtz nor Spurrier were able to sustain their OWN success.
Holtz peaked in his 3rd year and declined back to middling his final 3 years. Peaked at an end of season AP #13 in the 3rd year.
Spurrier peaked in years 5-7 at 11-2 and a post season AP #4 in year 7, and declined to p--- poor his final season.
Holtz delined to 5-7, 5-7 and 6-5
Spurrier declined to 7-6 and 3-9 (but his record that last year was 2-4 because he quit after 6 games.)

Oh my what this squad would give to be 5-7?? I see 4 wins (right now) at best, and that includes getting one this Sat.
There are lots of garnet colored glasses looking in garnet tinted rear view mirrors among gamecock fans. Unfortunately, unlike the stock market, past results do, indeed, seem to guarantee future performance in gamecock football.
He forgot how to maintain control over his team. Did he forget how to coach or did he never really know how to coach? Either way, he needs to go.
I think the stars he had came out of high school ready to play college ball, just don’t think he was able to develop them past that level!!
You're mentality residing in a prevoius era. You cannot pull in big recruits with big name coaches anymore.
The biggest mistake that Carolina athletics program ever made was promoting Ray Tanner to A/D. His two H/C football hires were the two dumbest, most baffling decisions in the history of all sports. Why? Everyone pussyfoots around and wouldn’t press for an explanation. Why did you hire the guy Florida just fired for losing! Then Beamer. Because he is a nice guy, former coach, father was Virginia Tech legend and former players liked him?
I know Carolina isn’t historically a power house football program. Spurrier got it up to pare. 11 win seasons, consistently ranked. Going toe to toe with anyone. Then sure Spurrier mentally checked out and that’s not how he left it. But……… Tanner was a doofus and shouldn’t have been allowed to touch another football hire after the Muschamp situation.

Money does not buy happiness, this rings true for us.
Are we spending wisely? $6 million for QB Sellers, was this smart? Whatever we spent on DB’s, were they a good investment? How much did we spend on the edge rusher who is suspended?
Other teams showing Beamer that smart money always beats new money.
Eight wins in his second year.
And Stevie Wonder could see the improvement in the team during his first year. They were competitive, just not victorious.
