Being semi new, Where did the name come from?

The Six Pack - A group of posters that arrived on the Swan's internet message board in the summer of 2002. The Moses of the group, Squintdawg, started the revolution with the now infamous "6-6 is about the best MSU football will do" post. The core group is Squintdawg, Cuzdawg, crackerdog, ExtremeDog, QuitBeggin, and dawgstudent. Contrary to popular belief, Heydog is not an original member, however, he was the last to be banned. Honorary members include but are not limited to heydog6, willi13, dawgpound11, dawgman13, and jsireland.

Six Pack Message Board (origin) - The guys known as the Six Pack were, as of April 2003, mostly banned from another message board, so in order to have free discussions about MSU, the Six Pack emailed. Unfortunately for heydog, he cannot access a computer at work, so he literally came home to 100 messages per day from the guys on April 7th, 2003 - April 8, 2003.. Dawgstudent asked if the Six Pack just wanted a message board. Out of convenience and a desire to do what the other message board had asked us to anyway, we set it up. The Six Pack invited a few of the posters who we knew agreed with us on the other message board, but to be honest, nearly all of us thought our membership would top out around 50 or so, and we were fine with that.

Congrats. I discovered the site during the Mullen years. Thanks for doing the work. And I enjoy the X posts as well.

I think I started reading and lurking in Sherrill's last year, and the "entertainment" value was off the charts! Especially as a oft needed escape from self employment......

This board has done a great job of staying true to its origins.....IMO

I followed the original group over fairly quickly. My mood toward Swan Lake soured circa Egg Bowl 2002. I was in the stands in Oxford and verbally expressed that it was time to move on from Jackie.

A GenesPager called my student job and tried to get me in trouble. I basically stopped posting and in April, moved over to the new board.

When DS retires he’s going to open The 21st Century Museum of Television and Video Devices. He’ll spend his days giving guided tours riding a repurposed Walmart shopping cart scooter. The battery will go dead when he reaches the LED room.

Someone from the Swan board, I can't remember who, told me about this board that allowed more free discussion that allowed non sunshine pumping opinions. Had to be around 2003 or 2004 I think. I know my join date says Nov 16, 2005, but I think we all got that date when the board migrated.

I think your join date is determined on your first post that is still present if it was before the migration.

I don't know exactly when I came here, but I remember the reason. I got banned from Gene's Page for comparing Ron Polk to the Unabomber after he wrote the manifesto to the NCAA about women's sports and Title 10 ruining College baseball. Anyway, I was Dash Riprock back then but lost the moniker when I couldn't retrieve my old email address. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

My current iteration has been here since 2017. I was heee prior to that but lost my login info and had to sign up again. I don't even remember what my original name was on here. But as my daughter reminds me...I am over half a century old now. Can't just say over 50. Oh no. Has to use the phrase half a century.

I've been some version of drebin since I joined a few weeks after the launch. I just lost a lot of my post history somewhere along the way among the conversionsku.

I think I was on Tupelo's Daily Journal Mississippi State comments way back when Brad Locke covered State and a few mentioned Sixpackspeak and it got my curiosity up.
