I like it and I'm ok with his approach of allowing Stewart the opportunity to earn his way back in Shane's good graces. My initial thought was just to kick him off the team. But I trust Beamer on this kind of issue, dealing with people. It may be that Dylan has some issues in life and kicking him off the team, while just, may not help him as a person long-term. If Beamer can use the situation as a learning experience for Dylan and help him grow as a man, I'm good with it. Dylan may not be though.
The counterpoint: He's a professional football player, likely earning 7 figures. Treat him like a professional, not like a student-athlete you're trying to teach life lessons to.
If a 21 year old carpenter gets mad and punches a plumber on the jobsite and ignores his bosses instructions and walks away from the job and sits down and pouts, he is going to be fired and probably arrested and prosecuted for battery and face fines and possible jail time. He might be going through something in his personal life, and that would be sad. But, it won't be an excuse for assaulting another person. To the counterpoint: Just because he's making a lot of money doesn't mean he's learned the life lessons or is equipped with the life skills to handle everything that comes with it. It's the same as being a parent - just 'cause you were physically capable of making a baby doesn't mean you're ready to be a parent.
At what age are you responsible for your actions? Asking for a 50 year old who thought he had learned a lot, but now reliazes yeah, no.To the counterpoint: Just because he's making a lot of money doesn't mean he's learned the life lessons or is equipped with the life skills to handle everything that comes with it. And the earth shook...Not sure what press conference it was from, as i hardly watch those.
But Shane was asked what determines when/if Stewart returns.
He answered with one word : "Me".
Agree that Beamer excels in HR skills above football coachI like it and I'm ok with his approach of allowing Stewart the opportunity to earn his way back in Shane's good graces. 21 year olds are adults. He can vote, sign contracts, join the military, buy alcohol, borrow money, get married, own a vehicle and do everything else any other adult male can do. He is also held responsible for his actions like any other adult. Being a great athlete getting paid to play a game doesn't make him any sort of special case that needs to be handled with kid gloves because he might be going through a difficult time.
As to your parent analogy. You are correct, you might not be ready to be a parent, but, you are going to be and you better learn how pretty quickly because you made a baby and that baby depends on you.
