I didnt get to watch but saw we wont both games. Lineups looked to be mostly new guys and those who didn't contribute as much last year. Any other feedback on who looked the part and who didnt?
I've always thought the Texas 1983 pitching staff was the best ever. Clemens, Ruffin, Schiraldi and Capel all on one team. Our staff this year might rival that one. Probably not at the top (but the potential is there), but this staff may be even deeper.Seems like our pitching depth is for real. Didn’t throw Tico, McPherson, or Bauer and gave up 2 runs in 12 innings. Parker and Carter White sat out too so we didn’t have our full array of bats either,
Hard to view it as anything other than a big positive. Auburn is going to be a preseason Top 10 team, possibly Top 5.
TOO SOON! The outcome of that Regional in Austin was so predictable yet so painful. Clark & Palmiero should have gone to Omaha 3 times.I've always thought the Texas 1983 pitching staff was the best ever. Clemens, Ruffin, Schiraldi and Capel all on one team. This staff should be better.I can only put it in context of our own history. I view 2012 as the best pitching staff we’ve ever had top to bottom. Curious to see how this one ends up comparing to that one.
Maybe someone should be a better evaluator and coach of left tackle talent that's here, just a thought, since its year 3 of this regimeWe are very happy with the results. Ponying up to secure an exhibition win as opposed to affording a good left tackle was a great decision.![]()
I liked Parker Rhodes a lot last year. Made an impression in short appearances, which is hard to do consistently. I think he will be a dude this year. The SC and UCLA pitchers should be a huge addition to the pen. The kid from La Tech looks legit and Shineflew looked good as well. The first two have done it consistently against top competition so there isn’t any worry there. We will learn more about the kid from LaTech and Shineflew after they face more sec talent, but they were both highly thought of and we stole the latech kid from ark and they were pissed. I think they both do well. Miller looked good and we still have Parker Rhodes and Bauer who have hopefully made progress. Rhodes could be something to watch for. I haven’t heard about Kirk, but if he can get healthy, there is that. This staff could be pretty decent.
I just know Cohen was sitting in his recliner watching some of our games last year thinking “I could‘ve made Ace Reese the best bunter in America.”Smartest guy in the room did a few partial derivatives then told Butch to lose the games so they could outperform expectations in the spring
We pitched really well, for the most part. Shineflew was real impressive.I didnt get to watch but saw we wont both games. Lineups looked to be mostly new guys and those who didn't contribute as much last year. Any other feedback on who looked the part and who didnt?
