alright, so, I'm apparently in the minority here.
I don't like em'. I prefer the traditional white or the black helmets. The garnet tops just look like a candy sucker to me.

I wore a red helmet in HS, I'm biased. I hadn't worn white since pee wee. Too plain.
Fair enough. Fun fact...... I can't recall the year but it was late 90's early 2000's and we wore white helmets but with a twist..... there was only a lone black stripe down the middle, ala a Penn St look, kinda.
From what I was told, somehow or other we ran out of the "side stripes" that go on either side. To me, it looked very sharp and nice. Never saw it again. Can't recall the game, but it happened @ Williams-Brice. TV game. Think it was probably during Holtz' era.
It was the Holtz era, but I think it was all season, perhaps the first two seasons. As I recall, when he got here, he pulled all the names off the backs of the jerseys and went with the single black stripe down the middle, and told the team they didn't deserve those things and would have to earn them. I could be wrong, but I think the first time names appeared on the jerseys under Holtz was the first Outback Bowl game.
That is my favorite uniform combo. The helmet was sick, I went online looking for a life size replica! They don’t make them yet!
That reminded me of my pee wee days. My dad would check my helmet for marks, etc. to see if I was out there "hitting". So, I would just bang it against things on the way to and from practice.
Agree. Love the garnet or black ones. I understand I am in the great minority of disliking the white helmets.
Sparky & Bradstard used garnet helmets 100% of the time.

I don't know. Just preference I guess. They weren't horrible. Maybe I'll get used to it.

My opinion: that entire uniform is the best and sharpest ensemble we have and we should never deviate from it when we are in the dark jerseys. I especially applaud the helmet design with the larger Block C logos.

I took a second look at it. I think I would like them better if we wore the black jerseys. Again, my opinion matters for nothing.
