Have we ever ONCE done a home and home in which we get the first home game? I guess at least it's not the LT days where you could just about set your clock to our home game getting bought out or moved.
If the current schedule 5 home 4 away conference schedule holds to the same rotation this evens it out. 2030 we will have 5 P4 home games and 5 P4 road games (Ok state away, 4 SEC away). Its why we canceled the Texas Tech series because the schedules in 2028 and 2029 would have had 8 home games one year and 6 the next. That series had Tech coming to us first.

Does it matter? I assume we like to keep the trend of a P4 non conference home game every other year instead of possibly going two full seasons without a P4 non conference opponent. As it stands now, we get a P4 non conference opponent at home every odd year. State fans will literally b!tch about anything.

I guess we still have to find another home and home for 2028 and 2029 to replace Texas Tech.

This OK State series replaces the Washington State home and home we had scheduled at one point.

It doesn't hugely matter, but I do find it a little odd. Sounds like you may not.

I find it odd too, and it is not just a recent thing. The only series with a P5 team that we have played at home first was Texas in 1991-1992 and West Virginia in 2006-2007. So that is twice in 40 years. Hell, we played at Baylor in the mid 90's and never got a return game.

We were scheduled to play Baylor first, but postponed that when the SEC added an 8th conference game.

Cheese Fries incoming.

Also I have heard tell that the mexican restaurants in Oklahoma come with free queso, so mark that one down for future reference.

Stillwater is a fun college town. Would be a good trip.

Unexpected quirk about the region: they call cokes "pops".

So every SEC team is dropping P4 games since the 9 game conference schedule came out and we are adding? Not a good idea in my opinion.
Who is dropping? I never saw that the P4 requirement had been removed for SEC teams. It’s a league requirement for each team to schedule one every year, until it isn’t.

As a traveling fan I love it. Otherwise I hate it
Welcome to Stillwater. It is the armpit of America. My experience there was a few years back so maybe they have upgraded since then. The game traffic situation was the worst of any venue. The stadium has minimal parking next to it so visitors just have to scrounge around for a spot. Got back from the game and found the campus police had left a ticket on my car for improper parking even though there was hundreds of cars parked on the same street and our car didn't pose any danger to traffic. It was a sold out game day. Our motel was the pits, the clerk was behind bullet proof glass and my wife swears there was something small moving under the sheets. We left and found a hotel in Oklahoma City. BTW, we loss to OSU too.

I think maybe a couple schools with a P4 rival may have dropped a 2nd P4 game.

Geeez. Please fire whoever does the scheduling. Go figure, BFE oklahoma, not a UCLA or a florida state or a Michigan state or a Syracuse...17ing okie state.

Plan a dove hunt since that’s the second weekend of the season. Dove hunting in the Midwest is absolutely worth a trip to also see a football game.
