Question: Is this my “I’ve become an old man moment”, or is this reasonable frustration?

I’m going to Mississippi State-Xavier at the Greenbrier. I don’t live close to Starkville, so it’s been years since I’ve made a game. I decided to buy a shirt for the game. I got the shirt below from the Mississippi State store. When it arrived, it was black except for a small logo over the pocket. I went back to the store, and the images are all maroon but the single color available says black.

Am I insane for thinking this shirt would come in maroon? I’m sorry but if there’s only one color option, and if all pictures are maroon, I’m not reading the fine print that says “black”. If you only sell black, put a black picture up.

I would consider this a "QUALITY" old man moment, and you should send it back, and follow up with a phone call of no less than 15 minutes of you complaining!!!!

***BUT.....I mean, it clearly says "BLACK"

Same thing happened to me recently ordering a hat. I glanced at the pic online and ordered, and I never even saw "brown" as the color. But why the hell would anybody expect what appears to be a black hat to turn out doodoo brown? For MSU colors?

Actual real life color:

Dispute the charge thru your cc company or bank. Even if you’re wrong, it will hold up their money for a minute. Teach those flat bellies a lesson!!

I almost did the same thing few weeks ago. What I thought was a maroon shirt was listed as “gray” when I was checking out

UPDATE (because I know you all care deeply):

Tried to return it. Packing slip they sent said they'd pay for the return. I call the store and no one picks up. I call again and no one picks up. I call a third time the next day, and I'm routed to some dude overseas. He tells me that he's the backup customer service for the store, and the store has to approve the shipping label before I can send it back. He tells me I have to call the store, and there's no way for me to get in touch with the store unless I keep calling until someone local picks up instead of routing.

He also tells me my package was delivered by UPS, so I could ask them if my packing slip was really a shipping label. I called a couple more times. No one picks up. I go to UPS then see a weird code on my packing slip that looks like FedEx shipped it instead of UPS. I google it, and, yes, FedEx did ship it, and the guy was wrong about UPS.

Website lists no email contact, and only the phone number I've been calling and the address. I use a chatbot that basically tells me to 17 off and call the store. At this point, I'm like "Fine, I'll pay for the shipping", but I was also on the verge of just telling my credit card company that I'm not paying for the charge. I go to UPS, and they put the address in from the packing slip. Doesn't exist in their system. We compare to the website, and it's the same. They say it's not a valid address. They decide to force it through, and the cheapest shipping option is $35. The rest are $60-100. I pay the $35 with no idea if the package will even get where it's supposed to go.

Completely insane experience. I haven't been in Starkville in years and didn't know what the deal was with that campus store, but never buy from the store I tried to buy from. I did purchase a couple shirts from The Lodge.

Definitely should have disputed that on the credit card side.

Isn’t the Mississippi State store just a front name for a link to what used to be fanatics? I’d stick with Maroon and Co, Campus Bookmart or the Lodge for online ordering.
It may have been but the physical address was listed as being on campus. I didn’t do a lot of research

My best old man advice is to roll with it. Reframe your situation. Black is slimming and hip. The basketball team is just as likely to be wearing black as maroon.
