Billy Puckett is your guy! Who needs the prestige and athleticism of the SEC when we can just drop down a few levels and have lunch pail guys. If you want love of the game MAIS guys because you are sick of the NIL era congrats on having a glimpse into your future today.

I’d advise guys like Puckett to go to a lower level these days. Walking on or waiting until your time just doesn’t work anymore. Have to play.

Having seen him in high school, he’s got some tools, but he was never going to be able to play SEC ball as a second year player.

Was Kamario any better last season in his appearances? No, not a damn bit, actually as bad or worse. He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn throwing the football last season. Shut the 17 up with your one game comparisons. This is not an endorsement of Puckett's future, just pointing out what a dumb *** comparison this was for Pucketts 1 and only start

Whether we like NIL or not, $27M was spent on this roster which brings two thoughts to mind

1. We should’ve had enough for a half decent backup QB

2. We badly overpaid for a lot of guys on this roster

I don’t understand all the hate thrown pucketts way today. He didn’t injure Kamario. He didn’t injure fluff. He didn’t fail to block for himself. Y’all seem to forget some of the qb’s we’ve had the last 25 years. He’s nowhere near K1, but it ain’t his fault we lost today. I thought he looked alright when he had time today.

I don’t hate on Puckett, just like I wouldn’t hate on my daughter who takes violin lessons if she got put on the NY Philharmonic. You don’t blame the 5 year that gets the keys, you blame the guy that hands him the keys

I don’t hate Puckett. I like him. But Lebby put him in an impossible situation today. He has no business playing over Swann.

Nope. He was over throwing, he was under throwing, mostly throwing it too hard, he was terrible last season hitting open receivers. Go back and look at threads, he was missing open receivers on long throws down field badly. I've been amazed he's so much better this season

That’s the dumbest **** I’ve ever heard. Everyone knew Taylor was an SEC talent. If you can’t see the difference in true freshman Taylor vs 2nd year player Puckett you need to be admitted to Whitfield

His passer rating was 143 last year. Which is pretty good. And he was a beast running the ball. He made several spectacular play in both the passing & running game. You are insane.

I take everything you say as true garbage. He was terrible last season! He was over throwing, he was under throwing, he was throwing too hard. He tucked it and ran instead of staying in the pocket. Everything he did last season he has changed this season for the better, but he was bad. Every game he played in last season was getting bashed by this board.

He literally had a higher passer rating than Shapen last year. And that’s not even considering what he gave us on the ground.

This is a horrid take.

"Pretty good" ? "Several plays"?
All he did last season good was run and that wasn't something they wanted him to do. Notice how he was staying in the pocket this year and not running, and when he did run he would go into the slide when tacklers approached instead of being a running QB? That's because he was doing stuff last season they didn't want him to. Really, go back to posts last season after games he played and this board was on him badly about the terrible throws. There was potential last season but there wasn't much good last year at all.

That means shutting down the athletic department. Football pays all the bills.
And that's all our administration wants it to do. It's been the same for decades. Take the whipping and the check. Pay the bills. Rinse and repeat. It's tough to build a program when those in charge don't won't to, or believe it's impossible.

Dude. This is probably the worst take I’ve seen anyone take in the history of this message board. It’s that bad. We all post stupid stuff sometimes. Just Cut your losses & stop.

poor ole you
If you choose to be emotionally and financially invested in MSU athletics that is your choice. I'm done with that. As long as we play I will always hope we compete and win but I'm damn sure not losing any sleep, or drinking to excess in misery or celebration. I've gone from the days of radio where you pictured in your mind just how bad we were on the field to now where it is broadcast in glorious HD. 17 it.

Congrats to the kid. And…I’m sure the Puckett’s are paying for Kamario in some fashion. I’m sure he feels right at home as that’s the MAIS way.

That just flat out ain’t true, except for the Cohen years.
It was true from 1950 to 1970 when all of the modern day football reputations and rivalries were formed, and we had a president who deemphasized athletics. It was true during the Carl Maddox era, who quit because, in his words "you can't win at Mississippi State". It was certainly true during the LT era, who sold multiple winnable home games so his accounting would be kosher. You have already admitted Cohen. So except for Byne and Loafers, who am I missing?

Pat, I just did a search, 1 quick search, using your name and Kamario Taylor and posts older than December 31, 2025 which was the end of the season as the criteria. The very first result with your name on it from December 1, 2025 says, "I'm concerned about Taylors passing accuracy. His mechanics don't look good, and it's usually very hard for bad passers to suddenly improve much....."

Then, there's the next one from November 28, 2025 that says, "well we've got Kamario Taylor 15-31 178 yards 1 interception 20 carries for 173 yards lot of good and bad. HE'S GOT TO GET A LOT MORE CONSISTENT THROWING THE BALL THOUGH. NEEDS TO WORK HARD ON THAT IN SPRING AND NEXT AUGUST"
You were right there with me, he wasn't throwing the ball good last year. Go back and search more of your comments, or I will if you want me to, that's honestly the first two I came to. He has improved drastically since then, I give him all the credit he is due for that and isn't spooked at the first sign of pressure any more and taking off running, another big improvement on his part.

LT did what he had to do. We really didn’t have money then, or prior to him. That was a different era. In absolute terms we have a lot of money now. In relative terms to the rest of the SEC we are still pretty much where we have always been.
