This is true for a lot of backup quarterbacks. I really don't get the uproar over Puckett. Do I wish we had an all-American on the bench backing up KT? Sure. But that's not gonna be reality. There is obviously a big drop off to puckett, but ultimately he didn't play that bad yesterday. It was really more about getting whipped on both lines of scrimmage, having no running game to speak of, and offering no resistance on defense.

Louisiana Tech, UAB, and SMU wanted Lyddy. Northern Illinois, Wake Forest, and Illinois wanted Hampton. No one wanted or wants Billy phucking Puckett. Get serious.
They don’t suck worse than Puckett. They just suck worse than Puckett Machinery.
Both are redshirt seniors. Puckett is a rFR. And he would beat both of these guys out this year at USM. There's a reason why neither are playing for SMU, Northern Illinois, Illinois, Wake, La Tech and UAB this year.

Just asking because I was unable to watch one play of the game. You said we had no running game to speak of but looking at the stats we rushed for 170 yards at 4ypc. On the surface that looks pretty good when the other team knew we had zero passing threat.
LSU really called off the dogs on us and the second half of that game and then stiffened when we got on their side of the 50. So we finally were able to rush a little bit. But in the first quarter/1st half of that game when they were really stacking the box to take the run away from us, we were completely ineffective.
I agree with you. Parker Puckett is light years better than Will Rogers. It's an insult to the game of football and to Puckett's family to utter their names in the same sentence.
I think now we're at the root of your issue with him. Let go of jealousy and live a happier life.
The fact is, Puckett beat out the two backups we recruited and paid to come here. Great for him. And great for Lebby for playing the guy who won the battle, and not just playing one of the two duds just because we're paying them.
While I don't know whether Parker belongs on an SEC team or not (hard to tell behind our O line) I do know this . I know his mama and daddy and their parents as well and there is no one in either family (LOL and either grandfather who are big State fans could afford it) who would ever even consider buying any of their children a spot on an athletic team . They are just not those kind of people .

I didn't think he was that terrible. Less mobile than Kamario, but I think we've had worse in our past. Trying to see the positive side in it all.

Yea the university gave his grandfather an honorary doctorate degree for his long time contributions. But yea his roster spot and jersey number came blue collar. I don’t care what his family has given, Parker Puckett has no business taking snaps at an SEC D1 school. That is asinine and outrageous.
He’d be fighting for a roster spot or backup reps at best at those programs right now. No one wanted him for a reason. Those places have guys that division 1 programs wanted. Get serious.
