Some of you need a good lesson in emotional regulation. Some of the same people who were saying 8 wins is the floor just two weeks ago are again (you did it pre-season too) calling for Lebby’s head. Calm down guys. You’re shortening your lives because of this roller coaster you’re putting yourselves on.

In short, a healthy MSU team is pretty dam good. Lose our two most integral offensive starters and a few defensive starters and we’re just plain terrible.

Agree with that. And I can unemotionally say that in year 3 we shouldn't be just plain terrible when injuries hit. You'd expect to regress, but losing the game before you even step off the bus is an indictment against the HCs program management. Being this paper thin at this point can't really be excused.

How long have you been a State fan? This is who we are. Always has been this way (except for a couple of years).

Does Lebby have recruiting/roster issues? Absolutely.

I get that but there’s very few teams in college football that would be in the same predicament. It sucks and it’s frustrating.

I know it has. In my years of being a fan, we got lucky with Mullen and then we loudly and clearly declared that we don't really care about winning when he left us in great shape and we pissed it away by hiring an OC with no big program management experience. We just don't have the leadership and money people that want or know how to make things happen in the college football landscape. As you said - always been this way. You get what you pay for in CFB and we pay at the bottom for the tier we compete in.

Regardless, I still get to ***** about the guy making $5 million a year not having any reliable depth and having an academy ball walk-on as our QB contingency plan.

I’m not talking to those who complain. I’m talking about those that allow themselves to get on this emotional roller coaster. One week we’re playoff bound. Two weeks later, FIRE THEM ALL!!

My favorite are the ones who discussed our CFP chances after 3 games, and now discuss why our coach is trash.
That's not crazy. Plenty of bad coaches can be playoff contenders, or even win the whole thing, when they have a top 3 Heisman candidate at QB. See Gene Chizik, Kevin Sumlin, Mark Helfrich, Ed Orgeron, Clark Lea, etc. Arguably Lincoln Riley too, even though he's had the winner 3 times.

I went on the record saying that we should fire Lebby at the end of last year, but I still enjoyed winning games in September and was looking at what we needed to go to get into the playoff mix.

We're likely looking at 6-6 this season, beating Vanderbilt and Tennessee Tech. Anything better would be unexpected given our injury status (assuming it's not improving anytime soon). That's a little better than last year.

We won the first 4 games last year too, but this year was a little tougher. Remember that winning Arizona State in '25 was essentially an accident at the end of the game.

College sports are no different than politics - the loudest voices reside on the extremes. Most don’t spend a lot of time thinking about performance reviews for coaches.

If you want to know how coaches are doing - and players in today’s free market - look no further than what happens in December. Who has a chance to move up in the food chain of their respective roles.

If Lebby’s name is being mentioned for better jobs, then he’s probably perceived to be a pretty good coach. If not, then his next stop is probably back to the OC title. Same with assistants.

If Mullen started your years of being a State fan you are indeed lucky and I can somewhat understand your position. For others that have been around much longer and much longer than me things are bad but nowhere near as bad as the majority of our past.

Also, we are a few players from not being bad which is pretty good historically speaking. Make a run to a winning record, set up next year, and start re-building the expectation that you can win big at State. That should be the rest of this year's expectation.

You DO realize that if all fans were as "rational" as you.........there would be NO college football .

I didn't say it started then. I said it was the only high spot. I started in the crappy side of the Sherrill era and grew up an OM fan in an OM family. So my timing I missed out on the both on the good part of Sherrill era and any good parts of OM history. Mullen era was the only time I've felt good about the trajectory of the program and we just gave up after he bolted.

Either way, I don't intend to get into a misery competition - I know there are old timers that have been through it for 6 decades+. My point is we choose not to pursue success for MSU football. That's not even a criticism. It's just an observation and there's probably valid reasons or inherent limitations as to why that's the case. But you can't argue that every time we do sniff a little success and show that we can win at a decent clip, we go cheap and hire another coordinator to replace the guy that won a little. I don't understand why it happens every single time. I thought we learned our lesson when we hired Leach. Then he died and we went right back to the laziest cheapest hire we could make - twice.

Let me make it easy to understand. I didn't believe in Lebby in year 1 and I was really hoping he'd get canned last year.

However, I did entertain playoff dreams in week 4 because K1 was that damn good... Winning cures all, and because of it, I was willing to extend Lebby good will.

Our hot start this year was not because Lebby is some savant. The only difference I can discern this year from Lebby year 1 (0-8 SEC) and year 2 (1-7 SEC) is K1. Period. End of story.

So yeah, now that K1 was out, others like me have remembered just how unimpressive Lebby's teams are.

With that being said, K1 isn't even at State because of Lebby, but despite him.

Lebby has to prove it and he has not.

That’s just a terrible take.
Ending up with a preferred walk on who had zero offers as your starting quarterback the moment the starter goes down is abysmal roster management. This is the SEC. There is no excuse for that at this level. That is not a terrible take. To think that’s it is being delusional.

You mean like Chip Kelly running the
Wing-T thís year.

ESPN ranks the revitalized Northwestern offense 8th in the country in efficiency despite playing one of the toughest schedules in college football. Looking pretty good wouodnt you say

Fan is short for fanatic for a reason. And what we are seeing is the ripple effects of the portal. A lot of teams lost yesterday because of no depth. Being banged up for many blue bloods use to mean just send the next five star in. Not now. The next kid up might be a considerable drop off.
