That is not true! Every team may get 1 or 2 teams that are in a higher division but to have 4 is simply not right. You're smarter than knowing that every team could schedule any team that is in a higher division than them - don't be so naive.
I'm sure it won't/can't happen, but it would be very informative to compare FCSH's schedule to their request list submitted to the NSAA. It could be the case that they requested a schedule full of D3 teams, but when the NSAA actually built schedules, they had to give them multiple teams from higher classes to fill their schedule. It could also be the case that they requested every team on their schedule. Unless the NSAA shares that information, we'll never know whether FCSH is trying to gain an advantage or playing the hand they've been dealt. From my time as an AD, I know you don't always get 100% of the request list you submit, even if you coordinate with the other schools.

Maybe power points need to go away. Make winning/losing matter or find a way to use power points in class only. But, if there's "now way" to avoid a team getting 10+ bonus points due to location - then the system is flawed and needs to be fixed.

I agree about out of class scheduling l. But if you take out power points there is no way to reward people for playing tough opponents or to “punish” teams for playing no one

This is my D3 playoff as of now with teams moving up and down for points after week 8. Toughest game to call is GACC vs. Leigh which changes alot of teams.

This is what the schools get for voting on this....I get they may have to play 1 or 2 against higher division teams but all 4 non-district games being against higher divisions is not right. Just my opinion. There are teams in the east/northeast that would like that same advantage.
You guys need to understand that adding that 3rd extra class really hurts traveling. For instance that entire district plus Gordon rushville is a terrible geographical district. But that’s how it works when we make an extra class. Humphrey drives to neb city Lourdes. Same issue. Just more challenges now with more travel

Yep .since this is mostly about FCSH . They have to travel a good distance even to play some Out if class schools ( Omaha Christian) 100 miles. They simply don’t have 7 D-3 schools close enough to have only a couple out of class schools for the non district, I bet Goltz just put down to the NSAA do what you can with realistic travel for SH . SH is just in a terrible spot in the state with not enough D3 schools to make reasonable schedule IMO.

I agree and understand that it hurts traveling...BUT that should have been a huge CON on why we shouldn't have added that 3rd class to D. Or we should have added that class because everyone was on the same page knowing that travel is going to increase. I don't mind some teams getting 1 or 2 teams above their class but 4 is unacceptable...IMO. I respect everyone's opinion and understand that FCSH doesn't have a lot of D3 teams around, but again, this is what the schools voted for.

Wouldn't an easy fix just be to limit the number of bonus points that could be awarded? This would allow teams to still play "up" and play more local teams and limit travel. It wouldn't hurt the larger schools at all. But would make it more fair for everyone.

You could easily put a cap on it. If you went with a cap of 5 bonus points for playing up, in this case you just wouldn't award FCSH for playing up for the last two teams they played out of division. It could be a really easy solution.

Everyone knew adding a 3rd class was going to increase travel and everyone knew they would probably get some out of class non district games because of the 3rd class . Again it’s just that SH is in a horrible geographical area for games in their class . We will see if the next cycle has any change pertaining to this . If no changes are made or schools don’t complain then they obviously don’t care that SH got in this year. You have to remember also they beat 3 of the 4 uppers. If they only beat 2 they probably don’t get in . I am pretty sure that Goltz could care less if they get in or not . He would rather get ready fur basketball then practice 4 more days and go get throttled by Central Valley or whoever they play.

I guess if member schools don't care then it is what it is....I'm just a power point junkie when it comes to high school sports because it is so important for so many reasons. I just don't agree with it. I have seen other things happen like DCS getting a FREE 50 points for NOT playing a game in football this year and Auburn baseball getting a FREE 50 points for NOT playing a game in baseball last season that ultimately put them in the state tournament that just baffles me. Agree to disagree - good luck to your team down the stretch.

Well the schools have the power to change it if they choose. All someone has to do is make a motion and it gets voted on .

just using this as an example but boys basketball.....FCSH has 14 game that they play classes that are higher than D2. They went 17-8 last year. so 14 games out of the year they are getting bonus points. just strictly using this as an example.. With so many games during basketball season i'm sure it is hard finding different competition, not knocking them doing that, more power to Goltz scheduling that way. I am sure there are way more schools out there that do it too (For basketball).

Football against basketball is an apples to oranges comparison. Basketball the school makes the schedule. Football the state does .

gotcha makes sense, is that the same as baseball, and other sports?
Yes Football is the only sport the state has control of schedule. Now you can schedule out of district games in your own because some schools like FSCH and Wyont and some western schools have played out of state teams. But tiu submit that list of out of district games that you would like to play. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don’t.

St Paul used to be the expert at this in volleyball. Would find good, not great, teams that gave them bonus points and play them so they could win and get the bonus points. Had to give them credit, they put a lot of work into figuring that out.

Again this has nothing to do with the current thread about football power points. Football is State controlled and other sports are School scheduled

Some games with big playoff implications this week.
Shelby-Rising City @ Aquinas - I see Shelby winning it easy, but don't know what to think of Aquinas
East Butler @ Lourdes CC - I see Lourdes winning, EB can't handle physicality and Lourdes will take advantage
Howells-Dodge @ LCC - Really good game I wish I would be at to watch. 50/50, but I think LCC takes it given HD's injuries (if they're still out)

Thank you. I'm assuming that is typo, having Loomis at 7-2. They are 9-0 now after winning last night.

So Lourdes is pretty much locked into that 3 spot as long as they win tonight.

Yes, a typo. Copied and pasted from yesterday's and must've forgot to change that. Can edit to fix it.
If Lourdes wins tonight, they should be the 3 (Howells win) or the 4 (LCC win).
I'll be watching games close tonight and hope to have projections done as games finish up tonight.
