So who is the booster that they were supposed to kick to the curve, but did not? Terry Warren?

The lesson: there are no rules. This is a land of wolves now.

What MSU will learn: We’ll satisfy ourselves with righteous indignation while playing by the rules as they continue to succeed while breaking them all.

I also love how even though by rule the head coach is personally responsible, they ruled that he’s not responsible because he “didn’t know.” Seriously? The head coach didn’t know his assistant contacted a recruits agent 16 times? Really? Not to mention even if he really didn’t know he’s still responsible by rule.

I like this to - "The enforcement staff and the school did not conclude that any individual athletics department staff member knowingly violated the requirements of the disassociation penalty".

They did not knowingly fail to disassociate, they just forgot to do it....

I’m a lot more mad that we aren’t getting slapped on the wrist for the same kind of violations than I am that Mississippi is.

Suits between schools for tortious interference will be the next frontier. The more difficult cases will be those where the student enters the transfer portal and leaves through that process (I doubt you will see many suits over this; although it's not out of the question). But contact outside the portal window could spell trouble in an actual court. Wisconsin is currently suing Miami for tortious interference over a player Miami took. Wisconsin failed to timely put him in the portal, which will complicate their case but it likely won't be a basis for a dismissal. The transfer rules allow for transfers, but they do not contemplate that the player may be contractually bound. In other words, the NCAA rules allow transfers, assuming you are able to and haven't bound yourself contractually to the school or their collective. A school can file a complaint with the NCAA (and get no relief), or it can sue them in a court of law instead - assuming you can prove the necessary elements. The NCAA's enforcement provisions are not the exclusive remedy, and the schools will start using the courts to protect their investments. This isn't chump change anymore.

We would self impose the death penalty in this situation. Other big time programs fight these allegations and get little to no punishment.
